Argentina's new president has been sworn in, bringing in what he says is a 'new era' for the country. Javier Milei is a right-wing economist who campaigned on a promise of drastic spending cuts and limited. In his first comments as President, he said no government had inherited the country in such a bad state - and warned shock measures were necessary.

I love how media always identifies “right wing” but never identifies most other governments as “left wing”.

I mean. He doesn't have the reserves for dollarization and the unions are already at him. I'm eager to see what stories will come from this.

Milei said Argentina 🇦🇷 would not join the BRICS grouping, which includes China 🇨🇳 and Russia 🇷🇺.
- That's a wise choice, considering those countries are struggling badly

Let’s see what he can get done with a slim majority in the legislature.

Why do I feel an unfriendly tone from DW.

Why is it right-wing to want to balance the budget? Calling Milei 'right-wing' tells you all you need to know about DW's objectivity and journalistic standards. Libertarian does not mean right-wing as anyone would know with the most basic education.

Argentina is now firmly on the US camp. BRICS, OIC, G77, Belt and Road Initiative as well as other group initiatives involving Russia, China, Iran and all of dictatorships for global de dollarization is suffering a massive setback.

*Milei and Messi* are the best things Argentina 🇦🇷 has ever produced.

It'll be another interesting experiment to watch. Will it work? Honestly, nobody knows. I've got an economics degree and I don't have the slightest clue. Everyone knows Argentina is just classified by itself when it comes to economics. The only way to explain anything about what Argentina does is just to say, "It's Argentina."

Something needs done the 20 years of basically socialist rule hasn't worked but thats where the problem is a third of the workforce is basically employed by the government and most things are subsidized so there's no wonder why they need to keep printing and borrowing money!

I think it’ll take more than a few years. Try a decade or maybe longer.
