I wonder why they so easily entered the castle, I mean the inside defense of the city. And the fact they captured it with almost equal armies, not having monstrous losses is also interesting.

Dang, Jerusalem used to be so tiny before. Although for what’s it’s worth during it’s timeline it was really big.

It's impressive with how little manpower they took the city. Normally the besieger needed to be many times over superior in number.

Resume: The crusaders were outside Jerusalem so they encircled it. The Muslim defenders had already recruited 1000 soldiers out of the local population and in 12 stressful days, they recruited 600 more of them, but by that time, the crusaders had planned a medieval blitzkrieg offensive by crossing the walls in both the north and the south. After a last day of preparation, the offensive was launched. The Muslim defenders did their best to halt the offensive but just as the crusaders had planned, the supplies were no longer enough for 10000 soldiers so the crusaders managed to cross first in the north and minutes after that in the south (Because the Muslim defenders had abandoned the area to defend the north. A huge mistake that beearlied the already inevitable). During the rest of the day, the crusaders were able to mop up the Muslim resistance in the city.

The thing that I love about medieval combat is how much time is spent just sitting outside until a town starves from supply chain isolation. Very little actual fighting is done

Love the unique wall design, that you showed in the video!

What’s funny is the crusaders didn’t have any siege towers, so they took apart some ships that came in and built two towers that allowed them to pour into the city

0:35 I think that was when a bunch of the pilgrims thought that if they marched around the walls, they would fall like Jericho. There were some caught by arrows when they got too close. There were also a few who thought they'd be blessed if they just ran up and touched the walls. Which didn't even well for them.

Legit, I saw 1099 and immediately thought this was a tax related video before I read the rest of the title.
