Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev claimed that Kyiv's Western supporters were aiming to "eliminate" Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky. Medvedev’s statement came amid allegations of a Polish man plotting with Moscow to assassinate the Ukrainian leader. On April 18, Polish officials reported the arrest of a man accused of trying to provide sensitive information to the Russian intelligence services. Ukraine and Poland claim that the information could have been used in an attempt to kill Zelensky.

If Zelensky gets killed, I think it will be done by the Ukrainians themselves. From US perspective, Zelensky is an excellent figurehead. He's not an embarrassment like South Vietnamese president Diem was... US backed Diem regime for years despite its corruptness and brutality. But when the South Vietnamese generals told that they've decided to get rid of Diem. US decided that they wouldn't bother to object: "Just don't tell anyone that you told us."
