That’s great advice on the timing of cuts and the variability.

Little tip - if your background is messy and your subject in front of it is lost to similar color and distracting landscape - then consider using a shallow depth of field. If you are shooting at the beach and there is beautiful and scenic landscape - don't use shallow DOF.
As a colorist using software like Davinci Resolve it is really easy for me to add lens blur to a background, but near impossible to make blurry backgrounds less blurry. So in this day and age, treat DOF like saturation - don't bake in what you can add after it's cooked.

Great video as always. The difference on the two clips to me the one with captioning make my ADHD go crazy. I focus on the words in the caption yet can’t read them fast enough to catch everything while completely ignoring the video going behind them. I personally don’t use them for this reason. And yes I understand that my videos would do better if I included them, I just can’t do it.

Your videos are always very informative Lila. Thank you. I’m a beginner so this information is very helpful. 🙌🏻

Thanks Lila! Great refresher and reminder video with a few gold nuggets :) Looking forward to the audio levels video, I work for a place that wont allow anything louder than a -14db... I usually use a hard limiter but an audio tutorial to make the sound full with killing the audio would be nice.

Would love a video on using a mirrorless as a solo creator to film yourself. No shot variety and angles like everyone says, but more so how to use full manual and/or what mode (aperture priority?) when you need to get the shot dialed in without the subject, since you’re the subject. Like how do I make sure I’ll be in focus, in frame, not over or under exposed, if I’m behind the camera setting it for a tripod then hit record and run in front of the camera for my shot?

*Train Me Jedi Master. I love shooting at 60fps with my FX30 but with my ZV-E10 at 30fps with all video as I don't do B Rolls a lot*

Wait- if you're shooting at 60FPS that means your shutter needs to be at 1/120?!
