Jeff like always great job. Thanks Ian too. I read the comments and yes, 3 lefties out there. ! Also for people struggling with a kick serve, I teach from third lesson on, the pronation (arm fully extended, hold elbow with the other hand, and I guide the wrist motion, students in one month hit nicely Fh, Bh and overheads/ I teach first overheads and after that the serve because is more natural and is a great progression for the serve). For the kick, can start serving from the T, half grip and instead to do the sandwich motion towards the sky, try (with a modified grip, depending on your wrist flexibility) having the strings parallel to the ground, place the ball on the strings and left hand on top of the ball(for righties /I can do it with left hand too) Roll the racquet over the ball and get to the sandwich position demonstrated by Jeff.Do it several times. After 5-10 times, do the motion completely and the wrist will start modeling the motion to finish high and around the ball( almost 6-12).Ball will fly high over the net, for your surprise and land in the box, with a nice kick. From there just follow Jeff's steps and practice(Another tip/wrist motion..use the mirror, best aid for learning !). Toss, poc and body position are all important too. Thanks Jeff and Tennis Evolution for your guidance !

On the court today. A dry cold day (39 degrees F/4 degrees C). I had some beginners trouble with my slice serve using the service line progression drill (start at the service line, hit one in>step back & hit the next one, miss one> step forward, hit the next one, etc). So my last basket of balls, I dedicated to hitting kick serves, which I learned before any other serve since learning to play left handed. As a near beginner, I can't achieve the power that Jeff Salzenstein (the Dude) generates, but I have a nice kick that bounces up to about 5-5.5' Thanks to all the tennis channels to which I subscribe, including Essential Tennis, Tennis Evolution, Crunch Time Coaching, etc.

MUY BUENO! ME PARECE GENIAL EL GRUPO. It is a great and useful video, as a spanish speaker, I find the group speaking slowly and clear for me, and I like so much the idea of building step by step the serve, congratulations!

The sandwich drill is amazing. Helped me much, thanks Jeff

Good job friends! Thanks
Have you deliberately skipped the toss for some reason? From the static brushing step to the trophy position step, I think there should have been the toss step, because the placement of the ball in the air is different than the flat or slice serve.

Awesome Jeff. You and essential tennis are my two favorite tennis channels.

Nice video! Good to see you guys together!

The only tip that was missing is that even if you do a correct movement the ball will not magically land in the square, so you still have to aim your ball in a certain height(1 to 3 feet) above the net.
Again nice video!

Great progression on the kick serve. Trying, get the balls over the fence, but not kicking yet.

Thank you! Great video instruction by adding preliminary steps of ball feeling movement and swing direction.

Can you use an eastern backhand grip instead of a continental grip?

What i was missing... you didn‘t outline that Jeff with his serve is not pronating to the outside. His „dirty diaper“ way of kick serving is a different approach.

I tried both ways and to me it depends on „how sideways“ my body is positioned at the moment of contacting the ball. When sideways to the baseline by almost 90 degrees... dirty diaper finish. When parallel... with pronation.

This is super Important to me. And was not clearly outlined.

I BTW do the dirty diaper serve type of motion.

what about the toss? slight forward or over the head completely?

You need to show the swing in a very slow motion. And show the racquet head hitting the ball. The ball is out of the video frame.
