I broke my back & neck and then I lost feeling in (most of) my right foot after a neurosurgeon that (at the time) I trusted made a mistake while operating on my spine but little did I know he had left a fragment of bone the size of the end of a man’s thumb inside my back that it then grafted itself to my sciatic nerve & subsequently it got dragged into the small tube that the nerve runs through, crushing the nerve every time I moved, sending unspeakable pain between my lower back & my foot. This damaged the sciatic nerve permanently & is still painful every day, even after the fragment had been removed. This operation was In an attempt to repair my injury. The after the injury healed as best as it could they tried to find out as to why I was in excruciating pain I went through 10 major spinal surgeries all with in a four years period. During this time I had to recover from each operation before the next & I was proscribed a range of different opioid pain relief medications being mainly OxyContin control release tablets as well as Oxynorm, or endone for break through as well as ketamine, morphine and worst of all fentanyl patches. At the time I didn’t care much about the ‘addiction’ my doctor said we will worry about that once we get you better. All I cared about was the pain that would not let up, 24/7 365 days a year until the bone fragment was removed. Since then I’ve had many falls after not being able to feel my foot properly, breaking my left tibia and my right ankle. All contributing to an ever increasing resistance to opioid medication. I’m telling all this as if you think most people take these medications have a choice well there isn’t any real legal alternatives to give you relief from pain like I wish none of you will ever have to endure. BTW if you take opioid medications as prescribed the person taking the medication become dependent, not addicted, no matter what the level of daily usage may be. Addiction is taking the drug for the high and taking whatever & whenever they can get there hands on the drug, regardless of it might be a similar level of consumption as a legitimate dependent user.

I took some oxy after both of my surgeries, and I couldn't stand it...knocked me out and made me feel super groggy. Then again I also don't drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, or marijuana.

It’s one of those cases where if you can take away the withdrawals and physical sickness people go through and just make them feel normal again, I swear on my life 99% of opiate addicts would never touch the stuff again. It’s not a thing where someone can be like “Oh, Tina. She relapsed again. I guess she just doesn’t wanna do be better.” No, Tina wants to do better. But her muscles ache, she’s nauseous, has diarrhea, and can’t sleep because her arms and legs won’t stop shaking. She wishes it wasn’t like this and never took an opiate. But there’s only one single way to make her feel better…

Everybody is already addicted to opiates, they just don't know it until they try.

Absolutely Not, OxyContin hasn’t been sold in years now, Now it’s Oxycodone. But the Fentanyl is now coming out of China Via Mexico.

If you took pills to control pain, you'd be fine. It's the people that took them to escape from life.
