I’ve been saying it for years, just not on my channel, sports cards are legalized gambling regardless of one’s age. There are many that are addicted to ripping packs in hopes of finding that “holy grail” 1/1 Super-Refractor/Auto. You make a lot of good points here, but collecting isn’t always about value, it’s also fun!

He ain't wrong. We are reliving it and the card community on YouTube is huge. If you want to kickstart your love of the card hobby again, plenty of channels give away great cards all the time. I'm running 2 giveaways right now. And I give cards away for pledges to a college scholarship I created at my alma matter.

I find this to be a very interesting take. Yes, sports cards overall seem to be enjoying a sort of a revival as many are increasing in value again. Curious to see how long it will go for!

Sports cards can really take advantage of the 'gambling' component of the American mindset.

Nothing more American then collecting baseball cards.

Completely agree the sports card market is growing but I don't think sneaker flippers will migrate over. Flipping the right sneakers is a for sure profit. Opening packs of sports cards is not.

Greed is what destroyed the hobby back 30 years greed will continue to destroy whatever is left of it. Enjoy the hobby for the fun, not the money.

Watched the handful of Gary videos related to this topic in the last few minutes and I'm going to make a video about my investments 😝

Gary is a very smart man. He is right on the money as far as everyone i talk to. Everywhere you look there are sportscards for sale and people are buying them up. Like myself. Cheers

A Friend of mine kept showing me his NBA Hoops Jordan cards from 1990 saying he had big money, and I kept telling him it was garbage as well and he needs to invest in new cards.

I have to agree with everything he said. I still love to open packs of cards and set up a table at a show once a year to thin out my collection.

He’s right. These sports cards right now are ridiculous. They don’t make nearly as many as they use to 30 years ago.

Interesting take but anyone that collects sports cards fairly seriously understands why a blanket statement that "90s cards are garbage" is false. While that is true with about 90% of 90s cards, it fails to account for the elusive, high end serial numbered inserts and gem rookies that continue to sit in collections and rarely surface in the open market.
