Because of the conflict in the two answers, this 'riddle' does not have enough information provided to be solvable. Assuming that grid structure illustrates movement, if the lion can move diagonally on the grid, any time Bobby moves to any adjacent space, he's lunch. If it's just there to illustrate potential movement, he's still lunch, assuming the lion is moving in such a way that it's not exactly following where Bobby went so much as where he's going. Any turns Bobby makes will enable the lion to close distance and will eventually get him caught or taking a swim, which may ultimately be the real answer. No one said the ocean was especially dangerous to swim in, and male lions aren't known to be especially persistent hunters.
