Never Lag Again With These Minecraft Performance Mods

These mods solved all of my performance issues in Minecraft!

I started with Optifine, and I would love to see it improve, but so far I've stuck with Sodium, and I really want to see Nvidium and VulkanMod grow into something more!

Which mod do you use and which would you like to see improve?

Hi!

Welcome to RelaxPlay!

A description of what all mods do can be found on their respective mod pages.

Key Mod(s):

Mods I generally use:

My System:
- NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2060 6GB
- i7 9700k
- 32GB 3200mhz RAM
- 2560 x 1440 144hz IPS Display (Running the game at 1080p due to performance issues at native resolution in combination with ray traced shaders)
I can achieve about 45-60FPS with my current System and Mod setup (using RTX Shaders, other shaders give performance upwards of 70-100fps). Overall, a playable experience.

Just a heads up, none of the mods are compatible with each other, with the exclusion of Nvidium and Sodium. Nvidium requires sodium to run, hence the similar name!

Edit: Nvidium will actually run on any 16xx series card or above as they also use the Turing architecture. I made the mistake of saying it was 20xx series and above, sorry about that!

Optifine definitely lost it's shine for recent versions. Still the best performance mod you can get for older versions like 1.8.9 along with maybe betterfps!

Great video! By the way, when you're creating a new world if you go to "More" and then "Game Rules" you can set "Respawn location radius" to 0 to get a more consistent spawn.

quick reminder if you have AMD graphics card then "vulkan" is the best option for you. Cuz AMD users benefits the most when it comes in vulkan.

Vulkan sounds like it might be very good in the future but seeing the FPS not having an edge over sodium, I'd still pick sodium today. Maybe that will change to vulkan/nvidium (but can't be nvidium until I get away from my 1050 ti lol) in a few years time when they're both more developed, feature complete, and compatible. Though vulkan may never be compatible with a lot of mods so it sounds like they're really aiming for a vanilla experience there.

Very nice vid. I clicked without looking at fews and after vid ended I was shocked it have only 2k views. Such underrated. Hope you will rise up in near future

another thing about optifine is that even though it is technically only supported by Forge, the mod Optifabric allows the optifine mod file to work with fabric and other fabric mods, which is actually the reason I'm still using it to this day.

This is an insanely well-made video! Maybe you could add a disclaimer in the comments that you have to choose one mod? They usually aren't compatible with each other, so I think that would fit for example in the compatibility section. Otherwise really good and helpful video, even for someone like me who already plays a lot of modded! At first I didn't notice this was such a small channel, so I hope this video gets even more views, and that you continue to make content :D I'm curious what comes next for you!

Im hoping vulkan mod gets more mature, and then merged into base game; that would solve most compatibility issues, and you could have the optimization of something like sodium, with the MUCH more performant vulkan renderer powering it. It would also allow for vanilla Minecraft performance to be reasonable. Edit: real raytracing shaders would also become possible(similar to mincreaft RTX in bedrock), due to vulkan having access to GPU rt cores, which I believe opengl does not.

i love the way you present your ideas, so clear and impactful!

would be intresting to see what vulkan will be able to achieve using shaders if it gets there some day

great video, only thing id want (i know you cant change this now) would be maybe a sodium icon next to nvidium to explicitly note that nvidium is actually a sodium extension. but other than that amazingly good content! shocked you only had 600 subs and this video had 1k views, i thought this was just another ~100k view video that i watch every now and then

My way of playing is to have a main modpack with Sodium and a secondary one with Vulkan.
I will use sodium with iris to play and Vulkan to build stuff if I need world edit.

Awesome video! I use simply optimized, (based on sodium) and it runs so much faster than just default sodium. I could not believe the performance I was getting on my older MacBook. I just wanted to let you know about it, so you can maybe do testing with it in a future video. Keep up the awesome content. ✌️

You can add as many other mods as you want onto sodium and also, I think nvidium works with sodium too!

Nvidium description on modrinth says that "anything that is a 1630 or newer/better should support mesh shaders", so you actually can run it even on a mid-range GPU

I've been using Vulkan ever since I discovered it on modrinth, its a lot of trial and error to know whats compatible or not but once you got your modlist done, it all runs as smooth as butter without any stuttering like sodium has

this vid deserves more attention, very informative!

I wish RDNA also have that unlimited render distance at a cost of VRAM. Given that AMD cards usually have more VRAM. that will be sweet.

This is super freaky to get recommended this but I did this same test a week ago myself but without optifine. I used separate profiles on the same pre generated world but with default settings, I got a pretty big performance boost by disabling the hud and using the nvidia overlay to measure fps instead.
Disabling the hud is not very useful in normal play so I'd recommend using the mod Exordium to limit the huds fps, it's not as good as using f1 but it really increases performance. The only downside is it's not compatible with VulkanMod
