IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA IN PREGNANCY - What YOU Need to Know!

Are you pregnant and struggling with iron-deficiency anemia? Believe it or not, diagnosing and treating anemia in pregnancy is so important that you will be screened for it in each trimester. Treating anemia effectively can prevent several complications during your pregnancy from infection to prematurity. The most common treatments for anemia, however, often consist of over the counter options that offer slow results and can cause side effects such as constipation. Many pregnant women are also given very little, if any, dietary advice for prevention and treatment of anemia. If this is you then I hope you will enjoy today's Midwife Monday video and FREE HANDOUT that I use for my very own birth center clients.

I had anemia before I was pregnant. Had a hard time conceiving. I ate grass fed beef liver for 2 months before I finally got pregnant, ate it all throughout my pregnancy. I no longer have crippling anxiety or anemia. If you can stand the taste I would suggest it.

Intravenous iron infusions work really well. Covered by all insurances. Best to get an infusion at start of the second trimester. It's hard to get enough iron by food or by supplements.

I have been experiencing fatigue, weakness and shortness of breath throughout the pregnancy that magically goes away temporarily when I eat a stake.
I don’t eat red meats often and probably don’t get enough iron otherwise. None of the blood tests we took routinely have indicated anemia. Trying to see what I can do to feel better - thank you for the content!

Thanks Kira! I was just diagnosed with this on Tuesday. And I wanted to see natural ways to help instead of just jumping to Fergon like recommended. Your the Best!

I’m 22 weeks pregnant and was just diagnosed with Anemia when I went to the hospital cause I couldn’t stand up more then 10 mins without my heart starting to race, getting dizzy, blurry vision, just on the urge of feeling like I was going to pass out! affecting me not being able to work. All the hospital did was rehydrate me and that was it and still feel the same every time I stand up for to long..

I just the call because I went Saturday for the gestational diabetes testing and they said I’m anemic. I’m scared because with my son I didn’t have that problem. I’m going to look for the floradix today, thank you.

I was diagnosed with low T, low zinc and low iron at age 32… Possibly an auto immune disorder as well. I’ve been struggling for years and finally got a answer through blood work.. recently 3 months pregnant… It always seems hard to get an answer on how much I should be taking of zinc and iron… now that I’m pregnant… what is safe? Can I take a prenatal and an iron supp? I 100% agree on trying to get it through diet but I believe I need an additional supplement 😌

Currently 34 weeks pregnant, do you have any suggestions for Restless Leg Syndrome? Most doctors seem clueless but I've heard it can be affected by mineral balance (especially with Iron/Magnesium/Potassium). I've been trying to self medicate with nutrition which has helped a little but it's still exhausting not being able to sleep at night. A video on the topic would be an absolute God send for the 30% or so of pregnant women who suffer, it would be amazing to know which products you would recommend!
Thank you for your time and you deserve thousands more subscribers for your content and personality!

Almost 16weeks. I have iron deficiency as well. My blood work marked few ovalocytes and rare tear drop cells. My doctor hasn’t said anything besides taking supplements for iron and vitamin c. I’ve been doing that for the past couple weeks but am more tired this week than ever. Thankfully I have an appointment this week and am going to see what can be done bc I am worried if my iron levels have improved. I feel like I have no energy to do anything. Thank you for this video

I was in my 2nd or 3rd trimester with my son when I developed anemia. I had no idea and it was not detected prior tp symptoms. I actually began to black out (almost like tunnel vision) while driving and I, being concerned, went straight to the ER. The doctor did nothing for me besides a UA. He thought I was basically insane and did no blood test, sent me home. (I could have blacked out again driving home!) So when I went to my Dr.'s they did a CBC and found it but I suffered for at least 2 weeks. Now I know the signs and to test for it via blood draw prior.

I tried floradix and food to increase my iron/hemoglobin levels. It barely touched my labs after a month. So I start iron tranfusions this week 🙏🏾
