Показать описание
Defense firm General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) will unveil its AbramsX MBT (Main Battle Tank) technology demonstrator at AUSA 2022, the United States Army Association defense exhibition taking place in Washington D.C. from 10 to 12 October.
This next generation (Next-Gen) main battle tank, in addition to getting a redesigned appearance, has also been reduced in weight compared to the previous generation Abrams tank, estimated at 55-60 tons compared to the current model's 73 tons.
This weight reduction improves mobility and payload capability, and provides the same tactical range as the M1A2 Abrams version but with 50 percent less fuel consumption.
The AbramsX will be supported by an electric-diesel hybrid power pack for reduced noise levels so it can move quietly.
The AbramsX crew has been reduced to just three and is equipped with AI (artificial intelligence) technology, then manned/unmanned teams (MUM-T) and autonomous systems.
As a beater, the AbramsX can be armed with the new XM360 120 mm developed by the United States Army Research, Development and Engineering Center.
The main cannon can fire new ammunition types MRM (Mid-Range Munitions), AMP (Advanced Multi-Purpose), and AKE (Advanced Kinetic Energy).
The roof of the turret is also equipped with an RCWS armed with a 30 mm automatic cannon and a coaxial machine gun mounted on the right side.
The AbramsX is also equipped with a new sight and fire control system using a panoramic vision system for commanders and gunners.
The AbramsX will be equipped with a new protective package fitted around the hull and turret. There are two hatches at the front of the hull.
AbramsX presence can be a key node in the lethal battlefield network and serve as a bridge from Abrams SEPv3 and SEPv4 for future tanks.
At AUSA 2022, in addition to the AbramsX, GDLS will also launch the TRX Breacher armored support robot, the StrykerX hybrid electric-diesel armored vehicle and the Striker Leoni radio attack detection vehicle.
