As a recent Scrambler Icon owner, this is an absolutely amazing bike, I live in Dallas and haven't noticed any heat issues, your legs can get a medium well cook, but the bike doesn't notice. Too much fun for it's own good, gets looks everywhere too!

For the clutch issue, replace it with a complete BARNETT Clutch Pack and Springs. They last a very long time and are at least 5x better than the stock clutch. My friend did just that and went 40, 000km so far no issue

Aircooled Scrambler gets so hot in conditions in India that one of my riding buddies on Scrambler used to race ahead of us and stop under a shade for 5-10 minutes so that the engine cools to some extent till the rest of us catch up with him and continue the same pattern of racing ahead and stopping under shade for a while !

Not quite a scrambler, but I ride a 2002 Monster and I'm all about Yam's idea of these being the perfect, sophisticated beginner bike. And that air-cooled overheating, yeah, that's too real.

The RT Scramblers from 71 were a 450 CC bike not a 346 cc bike. Lusted after these as a as a 15 year old in 71. Bought two of them in the early 80s and still have them. :)

Me: I have exams tomorrow
Yammie: No, you won't pass, but you will know about something you're too poor to get, and how to shave your balls.

Glad to see this video. Purchased a cafe racer as a first bike after almost three years of wanting to get into this way of life. Love it!

Ducati Scrambler UE here. Best bike I have ever owned. But it does burn my legs at any stoplight.

I’ve got a ‘23 Desert Sled. It’s the funnest motorcycle I’ve ever owned. Heavy duty suspension, great ergos for us bigger guys, fantastic motor, and it’s beautiful. Get more attention on this bike than any other I’ve ridden.

Went from a big Multistrada Enduro to a Sled recently. OMG...back to real motorcycling! The sled works great on road and yes...it will go off-road as a trail rider. Anything more serious and you will need suspension mods. A Sled won the Hooligan Class at the Mint 400!

Full Throttle would be my pick. Nearby dealer has a leftover 2019 Full Throttle at a fairly attractive price that I can't help eyeing on a regular basis. As for the bigger scrambler, I'd go with Triumph and their 1200, but definitely Ducati for the smaller scramblers.

Very nice summary of the bike. That was interesting. Yes, the desmosedici does prevent valve float, but I think the engines didn't rev high enough back then to make much of a difference. My guess is that this was some kind of workaround for valve springs that break.

Happy Desert sled owner for about 1 1/2 years here. 😊
10.000mi so far.
She has her - personality - indeed, but that what love is about, right? 😏
(FYI: Beside Country roads, I also ride her on the German Autobahn at least twice a week and she is completely stable even at 205km/h or... 127mph 😉 ...quite impressive for a large "dirt bike")

I don’t have the sled, icon and I love this bike . I’ve owned ninja, Harley, KLR, Ducati ss 900 . This is by far the best bike for me.

Not mentioned, serviceable belt driven valve gear unlike a ''last forever' chain plus a very desirable speed shifter.

Own a scrambler icon and I love even when I spending a buttload on new clutch plates.
