Southwest Airlines offers apology, frequent-flyer points after holiday meltdown

Southwest Airlines is trying to make travelers who were caught in its surge of canceled flights over the holidays feel a bit better about the airline by giving them 25,000 frequent-flyer points. The airline says the points are worth more than $300 in flights.

Southwest included the offer in a letter — another apology for the meltdown — from CEO Bob Jordan.

“I know that no amount of apologies can undo your experience,” Jordan wrote. He added the airline is acting “with great urgency” to process refunds, return lost bags and handle requests for reimbursement of costs incurred by stranded travelers.

Southwest has never been a good airlines I can’t say I’m surprised

Okay, the next time I want to book a flight I will offer them a credit to use at my business for a future purchase. They need to pay for all costs incurred and a class action lawsuit suing them for damages. They failed to fulfil their end of a bilateral contract and are liable for damages, in real money, not their stupid points. Passengers didn't use "points" to pay for hotels, food, rental cars. They didn't lose "points" for not showing up for work.
