Not Again! Before You Use The Hopper App... Beware!

Despite our initial praise, Hopper has earned a reputation for having a very poor, borderline scammy, customer service reputation. We experienced this ourselves, earlier this year, resulting in a 7 month fight to get over $1,700 refunded to us!

We walk you through the details in this video, because we can't say for certain which triggers actually impacted them to responding. Below, we list the contacts we used to raise awareness of our inability to get a proper resolution:

You can submit a claim here. It is important to have documents you can upload (emails, screen shots of conversations, etc.).

Social Media
@scammin_hopper is a Twitter account to follow. The account I created, @FailHopper was before I was aware and would rather the focus be on communicating to/through them.

I would also encourage you to follow and comment on the social media accounts of Hopper: Facebook (you can only comment on comments), Instagram, and Twitter.

I had the toughest time with a refund issue as well. Also beware that if you are in a hurry when booking through the Hopper app they will automatically bill you for additional services (membership) that auto populate as you purchase your air fare. Make sure you un-check those boxes. Be very cautious.
I do thank Hopper for finally responding and crediting my account. It's unfortunate that I had to go to social media & complain to finally get acknowledged by them. Thanks for sharing. 💪🙏

I’m screwed. Going through the same thing with them right now. They don’t refund and they don’t want to give me the credit either for a new ticket but want to charge me more money for a new ticket they have found for me. Meanwhile, on their site, I’ve found cheaper prices for more service than the one I canceled. This is sad because they have potential but with this attitude, everyone will know them. Thank you for sharing. I came on YouTube to find answers as to how I can deal with them and your video showed up. Happy travels

I have the very same experience. And I did almost everything that you did and the same exact response. I totally can relate to your frustration. My ticket was for $848.85. I need my money now!!!!

Wow...thank you for sharing your experience. I downloaded the app and was really considering buying from there. I won't now, seeing all that you've gone through. Im so happy that you finally got your money back. It's a shame you had to do all that to get it.

So I made a freeze and I have 21 days to pay it. But I know longer want it. Where does my money go? Because it said deposit will be forfeited? What does that mean? Are they just going to take my money? I’d rather have a refund, but they can’t even do it as a credit?
This is for a hotel, and I found one much cheaper on other sites.

I used the hopper app for first time back in May for a hotel, I freezed the price and never any reservation.
I'm a business owner got too busy so I didn't stay in the hotel, so I contacted hopper by email for my refund and I received an email from them saying inbox no longer monitored and after a month I have not received a refund or any communication with hopper the app needs to be delete for EVER!!!

oh wow, I just got the app because of the ads and it seemed great. i tried going through the booking process and froze the deals but when I proceeded after freezing, the hotel options were sold out. I did this about 4 times until the last try worked. Yet i still had to ask for refunds on the first 3 transactions of almost $500 each. I called my bank (chase) and they informed me that not getting the refund is not on their end but has to do with the merchant, if they decide to refund or not charge me and take my money. My bank also informed me that nothing can be done while the transaction is still pending. Now I have to wait till tomorrow to call my bank since the transactions no longer appear as pending and my credit card balance reflects being charged.

I recently tried it and I felt overcharged
The taxes and fees at the end of the discount was too high

There is a charge to speak to a customer service associate. It is best to speak to the airline directly

Hopper just needs to tweak their policy to no refunds. People just need to book with 100% certainty when using the app. Simple enough.
