I lived in Portland (actually Vancouver, USA) back in the '80s, and I loved to wander around downtown. The one way street and small blocks made for a lot of nooks and crannies to explore. Everytime I went down there I'd see something new, and I met a lot very interesting people.

If you really have an appreciation for the beauty of nature, Portland and Oregon have a lot to offer. there are tons and tons and tons of trees and forest everywhere you go.

Thank you so much for your video. I’m living in Tennessee and I’m missing Portland IMMENSELY!!!! I lived 20 minutes East of Portland for 15 years. I left in 2021. You have given me hope to return. I imagined downtown in worst condition. 😊👍 I have lived in Ca., Idaho, Arizona, Tennessee, in my opinion NOTHING BEATS OREGON!!

Portland feels like a much more pleasant, calm city compared to most American cities (though I've only been to NYC and Pittsburgh, so don't have a lot to compare) - great video tour! That book shop looked insane, could have easily spent days getting lost in there.

Born and raised here the Charles Berg used to be a super popular shopping place with restaurants and stores. Went there all the time as a teenager and older. The best place to get clothes and great restaurants

I enjoyed your video and stayed in downtown for a week during this same timeframe. Not thrilled about the trolls stalking your comments section.

We haven't made it to Portland yet (or anywhere in the state of Oregon for that matter). It was cool to kind of get a feel for parts of the downtown area as you walked. I could spend many hours in Powell's Books. That might end up being my favorite thing in Portland when we finally get out there. Thanks for sharing this walking tour with us!

I grew up in New York City moved to the west coast later where my kids grew up on the beach. I live in Bend right now but planning on moving to Portland. Getting old and need to be near good medical - hospitals, doctors etc.I also crave a progressive atmosphere politically. I love the city with its public transit and access to the Ocean is appealing.

I saw more people in downtown Pasadena, even though its population is only one-fifth that of Portland.

I'll be honest it really doesn't seem anywhere near as "bad" as I hear/thought. I lived in San Francisco for years. San Francisco downtown/soma/mission can be bad. Thanks for the video, Swifty!

There's still a high office vacancy rate and percentage of remote workers after the pandemic and protests. That's why you see little foot traffic on the streets in this video. This is true for a lot of downtowns in large cities around the country.

Some people are bitter, and no matter where they go they take it with them.
