I wish I'd seen this video before adding oil to my pool and setting it ablaze.

Ohhhh man. I’ve seen these this year and now that I know they can bite I’m FREAKING OUT MAN.
Not to mention yesterday I was bit twice and had no clue what it was.
Here I go to shock my pool.

Hey folks - don't let the dragonflies bother you. They can eat hundreds of mosquitoes a day. We love them around our pool. No bug bites!

Awesome. I noticed them in my pool recently. My water is crystal clear but we do have a lot of mosquitoes around as well. I am currently draining it for the winter but very good info for next year!

I have a few very tiny looking black beetle type bugs in my pool. My water is crystal clear and chlorine was a little high last I checked about a week ago. PH and alkalinity were on point at that time as well. Do you know what these bugs are and if they are a bad sign to have in your pool?

To get rid of the bugs you have to shock your pool for anyone needing a quick answer and keep your chlorine level up

I LOVE pool bugs! I take them out of my pool in the spring then pop them into my rain barrels. They eat all the larvae . They are pretty awesome. They do an awesome job.

I have a black bottom pool which attracts those water skimmer bugs that are on the surface.
I was netting some debris on the surface. I scooped up a skimmer bug and flipped it out of the pool. A blue belly lizard comes running on the retaining wall and catches it in its mouth and eats it.
It was waiting for me to flip it another one which a couldn’t do again in a million years.

I had bugs in my pool, I brushed it and shocked it twice with clorox blue 6 in one shock, then vacumed, I vacume every day anyway. I also ran my filter pump 24 hrs a day for 3 days. My pool is bug free and beautiful, when I test it the chlorine is high, but I live in Arizona so the sun will take care of that.
Thank you for all the help.
I just ordered the Intex sand filter 2800, I think the filter that came with my pool was too weak. I have the Coleman 18' round pool. Other you Tubers that have the same pool recommended that filter and say it's a game changer!

I just shocked the pool last night and this morning there is a small boatman in the pool.
I shock it again even though the pool is clear.
The CYA is high as well as the Total Chlorine. I tested this afternoon.

The easiest way to get rid of those nasty critters is to make sure your chemicals are right and get some Dawn dishwashing soap and put it where the bugs are. Works like a charm. I got this info from another pool guy on youtube, the Dawn soap did zero damage to my pool or my pool pump.

I’m trying to remember but there was a blueish chemical I think called back up that did a couple things, one is help kill algae and two it gets rid of surface tension that the water bugs use to capture or create an air bubble that they use to breath while under water. They either leave or drown. It will foam up when you first add the product but it will dissipate over a few hours. We haven’t had any real problems with water bugs here at our pool but we have a weekly service to maintain it. Pool has waterfalls, slide and in floor cleaning system. Unfortunately there’s no vacuum to waste option on this pool. The skimmers are just a recirculating system at the skimmer from the pool pump return.

Set up an above ground pool in San diego last summer. Today i saw some kind of bug actually swimming under the surface. Thought I was hallucinating. Never seen one before. Had a fun time trying to catch it. Never knew pools came with bugs that swim. Still no clue what it was. Guessing there's more where that one came from 🤨🙄😬

I’ve been fighting these stupid boatman and backswimmers for 2 years. My problem is the stairs. Algae and dirt just stay behind it and it’s hard to move them because we have it in place with the deck. Luckily the stairs broke on one step this summer so after this season it’s going away and getting something that’s easier to clean behind and under. Not something bulky like what came with our pool.
