Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Christmas With The Kranks!

Tim Allen hit gold with Christmas thanks to The Santa Clause movies, and with Christmas With The Kranks in 2004, he attempted to strike gold again! That didn’t exactly work out. Starring Allen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dan Aykroyd and more, Christmas With The Kranks follows Luther and Nora Krank as they decide to skip Christmas. The movie definitely raises a lot of questions.

Like why aren’t any of the characters likeable? Why does anyone even care if they go on a cruise or not? Why not put up the decorations if it’ll get everyone off their backs and cost them no money? What’s up with their daughter landing in Peru only to come directly home? What’s this movie’s message, anyway?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to Christmas With The Kranks!

When I first saw this movie, I didn’t realize how crazy the town is in forcing the family to conform and celebrate Christmas. Lol, strangers interfering this much about what another family does in their lives is creepy.

The key message is actually kinda wholesome. If someone diagrees with you just gather a crowd of people and force them into submission

"So the movie can happen" I wonder how many writers actually think this to themselves lol

The end when he gives his elderly neighbors his cruise is pretty sweet.

"Pretty weird reaction"
"Some might say a funny reaction"
"Somehow I doubt they will"
"Well..."

I love how the Producer feigned surprise when the Writer asked him to. Skip Christmas?!” So nice to see them becoming friends.

This was the first movie I ever bought a ticket for with my own money. I still regret it.

- I refuse to learn from others mistakes
- That's what I love about you, Sir!

This might be my favorite interaction between them. It explains their dynamic of pitching and accepting horrible stuff, over and over again. 😁

"What's the message of this movie?" "No time to think about that..." LOL

The satisfaction with which the screenwriter guy says "It all ties together!" after revealing that the Santa Clause in the end was the Santa Clause in the beginning is so adorable, yet tragic - like a six year old proudly bringing his mom a bouquet of freshly picked dandelions, not knowing that they're weeds.😢

"Whats the message of this movie?" "Conform Conform Conform" then a full one way ticket to They live.

“So you’re just kinda doin’ stuff, huh?”

“Yeah, I’m just kinda doin’ stuff, I don’t know.”

“Oh, just kinda doin’ stuff is *tight* “

Would love to see some “Pitch Meeting”s for classic movies; Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Singing in the Rain, etc.

I have to admit, this is always the first Christmas movie I watch every year. Not so much because it is good, but because we watch it during that weird end of November when people don't know if they should be watching Christmas movies yet or not.
