History Of Spain (and Portugal) PART 1: Ancient Iberia and the Visigoths

The History of Spain (and Portugal) is long and wide spanning one,. From the Americas all the way to Japan. But instead of an Hour long documentery I made a very overly fancy PowerPoint summary of it. Human History begins on the Iberian Peninsula much earlier than the Reconquest or the colonization of the New World. So in the first Part I’ll talk about Ancient Iberia and the back and forth between Carthage and Rome. The Conquest of the Suebi and Visigoths.Images used are mostlydrawn by me, except for these ones.

This took longer than expected, mostly because I’ve been busy with my Internship. Some of you might be thinking, “wait, Yuric didn’t you already make a video about Spain a while ago” Yes, I did make one already, But I didn’t like it, it had too many errors, the quality got butchered and I didn’t know how to use Premiere Pro properly back then. The Cetiberians were the ones in the borders of the two cultures, that got more influence from the Iberians, the Greeks and Etruscans. Being a mixture of Celtic and Iberian cultures, since both were made of tribes. The ones further in the north were actually just Celts.


All in all, the video and the art is pretty good. We have to study this for the exams to enter uni, and it is a very good summary that explains the key points.

I love your vídeos, but one thing when you said about the celts you mentioned Galicia but not Asturias, I'm Asturian and we also have celtic culture but we are often forgotten, in fact, I think the bagpipers you showed were Asturian not Galician (from their hat which is the traditional Asturian one, the Galician is a little bit different), just that.
