Both here. I would say, in my mind, ADHD is like the weather, whereas ENFP is the climate.

I'm an ENFP with ADHD and so far, I've wanted to be a hairdresser, an actress, a ballerina, a marine biologist, a bioscientist, a fine artist, a jockey, equine trainer, hairdresser again, nursery practitioner, child psychologist, art therapist, graphic designer, photographer, photo-editor (specifically), dancer, musician, sales manager (short lived idea), and I'm currently in training as a beauty therapist. Will I ever settle on one thing?

I’m an ENFP and I’ve always thought I’ve had ADHD but now after finding your video I think I’m just a depressed (medically diagnosed) ENFP. I can focus on multiple things at once but if I’m not interested in something I just cannot focus on it at all. Thank you so much for your videos ❤️

I've known I'm an ENFP for awhile, and have always suspected that I might have ADHD. This makes me want to go be tested for ADHD now.

ADHD and ENFP here. I would love to see you do a collaboration video with the channel How To ADHD. I think it could help those of us that have both ( and by looking at the comments it’s a lot of us).

5-10yrs too long for an ENFP to think thru that far 🤣🤣😆😆🤣 so true

That explains soooo much! In elementary school everyone thought I had ADHD but it's just my personality type 😂

So is the fact that I’m a chronic hobby starter a symptom of my being an ENFP? I swear I’ve started more hobbies than I care to admit.

Glad to see you addressed this issue. I am both ADD and ENFP. AD/HD is more complicated. It's a neurological disorder and a mental health diagnosis. Is a disorder that shows up in childhood. There are several types of AD/HD. There is a problem with the frontal lobe as you said. The frontal lobe is the part of the brain that regulates your organization skills, decision making, etc. This is called the executive function of the brain. This area of the brain in people with AD/HD doesn't functioning properly. Researchers take CAT scans of the brain and see how different this area is different in people who have AD/HD then those who don't. People who have AD/HD have trouble with time management, organization skills, money management. They also have problems with self regulation and management of their body. For example when I was growing up and in college I would shake my foot and leg. It would drive people around me nuts. They tried to make me stop and I tried to stop but it wouldn't last long. This usually occurred when I was bored or in a situation in which I was in a classroom situation. I became very embarrassed by this behavior. Many years later I found out it's normal for people with AD/HD to have these sorts of movements or "tics." The movement helps a person to concentrate and stay focused. It's also a self soothing behavior. I've struggled all my life with time management, again ever since I was young. People with AD./HD have a whole different concept with how they experience time. Even at age .61 I still struggle with being on time. And over the years it has caused problems for me. Many people with AD/HD struggle with anxiety and depression. At age 59 I was diagnosed with ADD. I've educated myself on the subject, I learned through all the reading I've done on ADD that this behavior and many of the other executive functions I struggle with have a neurological bases. At my age I've learned to be ok with myself and not judge myself so harshly. I also take medication which has helped tremendously with focusing. I believe if I did not have ADD and took this same medication to address the ENFP it would not help at all. Generally when a person with ADD takes medication, a stimulant, it improves there ability to focus greatly. I feel normal and calmer. A person who is not ADD will get a high off the medication and be running a mile a minute. Most people with AD/HD experienced social and emotional problems since childhood and as adults because of the effects of the AD/HD. I don't believe people who are ENFP personality will experience the emotional, social, and mental health issues to the extent a person with AD/HD would. I do believe having both as I do has made my life more difficult at times. And I believe I have many strengths because of both. Most adults after they've been diagnosed AD/HD as an adult are relieved. It's like" ok I'm not dumb, stupid, weak, or poor work habits. This is part of my wiring. It was such a relief for me. Because once the diagnosis is made you can then learn ways of dealing with the symptoms as best you can and the dumb, stupid and weak judgments are taken off the table as a explanation for the behavior. And this is where the similarities come into play between AD/HD and ENFP. We accept the way we are and the strengths of these two aspects of our lives. And we do our best to compensate for the weaknesses. And in both cases we will never completely change who we are. But we learn how to manage AND rejoice in the wonderful and unique aspects of what makes us who we are!!
And your right that it's important to find a career and/or a passion in life that fits your strengths and weaknesses. This also has been a struggle. The work world and I think society in general is not set up for AD/HD or ENFP people. I think in both cases there is much judgement and criticism toward those of us who do not fit into the "normal" way of doing and the thinking of life. I do believe that our society can't do without us though!!
If you want to learn more about AD/HD go to the Additude website.

I love the hyperfocus idea. I'm definitely that. I either flit from one flower to another like a butterfly, or I obsess about something and spend hours and hours mulling over it. There is no in between!

I have ADD and am an ENFP. I scored really high in the “P” function. My theory is that’s where most of my problems lie. & then the Fe emotional roller coaster kicks in. When I take my medication it turns my “P” function to more like a a “J” & I can get more stuff done. The downside, I think I’m more of a happier person without my medication because I’m more free spirited but in my role as a salesperson I have administrative work that is required, expense reports to send in, contracts to get done, meetings to set..areas I can’t be free spirited about. If I don’t take my medication these areas suffer & then I get anxiety from everything I have to do that I put off and then I get depressed from being overwhelmed. I don’t think medication is a solution to everything, but in my case it has made me become more productive, therefore has helped with my procrastination, anxiety, overwhelmed, depression cycle

Just want to check but am I the only INFP with ADHD here?

"Doing things because I think I should" that's the worst idea I've finally shrugged off this year. I've always thought I had to prove myself doing my weak points to holistic improve my feelings of inadequacy and feeling like a corrupt weirdo, things I find hard and don't enjoy like working by myself and academia. Oh I have ADHD and reckon I'm a low-key / ENFP rather than an INFJ which I type as who is only realising their self worth/intuition.

I'm 100% an ENFP and when I was younger I was diagnosed with "Slight ADD tendencies".. Honestly I would actually like to go and see if it's actually more than just slight, its been like 10 since but

I’m so late to this video but my goodness I needed it!
I’m an enfp (and annoying 5 year mbti nerd!) and those of my friends who know mbti don’t think my (honestly far too lately diagnosed) ADHD and bipolar II disorder are “real” it’s just my personality. I also have AN, Gad, and PTSD which differ heavily from my actual personality traits. It’s so invalidating to feel like what’s truly debilitating for me is “just who I am”. Sure a lot of adhd and hypomania mimics enfp qualities but being healthily enfp never interferes with my quality of life- it rather enhances it :)

Thanks so much for this, I’ve been trying to word it lately!

I’m an INFJ with ADHD and I always test as INFP (or INTP) in traditional tests, which is why when they say “oh hey! Random, fun (but maybe a little disorganized, ha ha) ENFP is totally your match! :D” I’m like oh hell no, one of us has to be the solid, stable one.

ENFP here....no problems concentrating. No problems academically. No problems completing work assignments.
Any kind of issues related to focus can be controlled.

As an ENFP, I know that I don't have ADHD because I'm able to focus when I put an intention to focus. I just don't, normally. I'm not struggling with it. I can if I want to. It's not a problem.

I have a friend with ADHD and I know she struggled with focusing and staying on track even when she forced herself to. It's different from me.
