I like a car I can beat on and not have to worry about it blowing up every summer after rebuilding it every winter 😂😂

As a bit of a fun fact, the SVX (the first Subaru shown in the video) actually has a flat six engine! Subaru seems to like to make them from time to time

People redline it everyday and every time they touch the accelerator, and then they wonder why it's unreliable. They rebuild the engine, and don't break it in, and then wonder why it blows up

You rarely hear about Subarus blow up in Japan.

I always say it's the owner. You MUST tune the car properly when you build it and unfortunately a lot of people skip steps in building a modified car.

For anyone who hasn’t go drive a wrx…that AWD and weight so low to the ground makes for one of the best rides

Ive owned now 3 Subaru's. I do think its a 50/50 mix between owner and the luck of the draw if you get a lemon or not

Also they sell a oil pickup tube and oil pan upgrade because whenever you hit corners you starve your engine of oil

The issue is ppl treat them like a Honda... You cant.. Subies are very German.. Gotta be 'on it' with the supporting mods, tuning, and maintenance.. You can't treat it like a fucking b18 lol.

I’ve had two Subarus, only thing I’ve dealt with is AC issues.
I sold one to my friend that had 180, 000 and the other is only at 45, 000. Both are WRXs.

My dad owns a 2002 subaru forester and as a daily driver it works far better than modern options. It has a normal shaped boot, awd, and only about 180, 000kms.

They seem to be rather sensitive and fragile cars. I don't know what causes that, but that seems to be the consensus of Consumer Reports and the general public.

A mechanic also discussed every engine's worst nightmare, oil starvation, the factory oil pump pickups are improper
to hold pressure during high loads, luckily there's experienced mechanics turning to engineers to get the modified oiling components.

I knew a guy in high school who got a wrx, put a fuck off huge turbo on it, no supporting mods anywhere, drove it like the throttle was an on/off switch, and tuned it to 600 horsepower. Blew 3 engines, 2 gearboxes, 3 clutches, 6 half shafts, 4 intercoolers and 2 turbos in a year. He complained often about how unreliable it was, never put 2 and 2 together.

Due to being a flat 4 and how its engineered. Cylinder 4 being one of the main reasons. You can fix this by doing cooling mod as well as a parallel fuel setup since cylinder 4 is the last one to get less pressure from fuel cause lean conditions. Last but not least a proper oil pick up with baffles. Due proper maintenance on it and your car will run fine no issues.

So, subaru built the car with modification out of mind, or they expect the owner to retune or replace the ecu with one to match the modifications? With all the new tech you would think a new car ecu would adapt to new air:fule ratio.

It's an owner issue, most people buy specifically the WRXs to thrash around and have fun in. Typically owners with no experience or intension for maintenance.
