EPIC VEGAN TUNA 🍣 Made out of watermelon!!

Packed with flavour and super low calorie density 🔥

Ok, so as a life long vegan I have no idea if this is like tuna! But I have been told the taste and texture are scarily realistic. So next time you have a dud watermelon (like I did), you know how to put it to good use 🍉

Ingredients
1/2 a watermelon
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 clove of garlic
1 thumb of ginger
2 nori sheets
Sprinkle of sesame seeds

1. Slice your watermelon into inch thick slices. Remove the skin. You can chop it into little inch cubes instead if you like.
2. Make your marinade by combining the remaining ingredients into a baking dish. Add the watermelon slices and leave to marinate for 1 hours, flipping each few times.
3. Remove some of the marinade for later and pop the baking dish into the oven at 180 Celsius for an hour. The texture will completely change!
4. Remove and serve with sushi rice, on top of a sushi bowl or just eat it as it is!

Save and share with family and friends ❤️

Excited to try this.
Because of your insight I have tried many fruit, veg and legumes in non traditional ways. Who would think chickpeas would make delicious ice cream and riced cauliflower can be cooked in oatmeal and it is not only delicious but ups the nutritional benefit. I made my husband the “best apple crisp” of his life out of zucchini! Keep the great ideas coming. Thank you for helping me chance my mainstream way of thinking. It’s opened up so many more possibilities to expand my nutritional journey and improve my health. ❤👏

I can't believe how many people are missing the point. Vegan "tuna" made out of watermelon is a thing in the vegan world. I've also seen it made out of tomatoes. And there's vegan "salmon" made out of carrot. Yeah, watermelon is great eaten as nature intended, but using watermelon to make something else isn't a capital crime! I don't recall reading any rule books that specified that in order to be vegan/wfpb, we had to eat plain fruits and vegetables at all times. Oh and obviously we must despise the taste of meat, too. Seriously?

Just cause you name it tuna doesn't mean it tastes like tuna

Vegan tuna made with seaweed and watermelon? That’s quite the combo. It’s almost impressive how a sweet gummy drowned in soy sauce can be reimagined as tuna. Gotta admire the creativity, even if it’s a bit of a stretch!

In America did you come across any seedless red watermelon Amy?

If you're a life long vegan you have no idea how tuna actually tastes

I have never felt the need to start disrespecting vedän stuff, but I'm 90% that tastes absolute shit. It looks good though. It's just the taste I am concerned about

Looks great! Would love to know how a lifelong vegan would qualify a recipe intended to imitate meat textures/flavours. Just a curious thought, philosophically.
But we all know what soy/vinegar/mirin/nori taste like - hecking delicious 😋

Smile a bit. I know its hard knowing that the final result is horse shit but kudos for trying. Keep an out of my video where I show how to make a beautiful fillet mignon that is as soft and juicy as water melon.
