Today we discuss the differences between Bread Machine bread vs Handmade bread, which one reigns supreme?
We recently brought out our old trusty bread machine Trey purchased for me and we've been making a few recipes using it, today we are testing them out head to head with handmade bread.

Have you made bread using both of these methods? Which one is your pick?

When I first started making bread over 30 years ago now, I tried both ways. While the bread machine was nice to be able to walk away from and just come back to baked bread- we liked the one I did by hand better. Plus, I could do more loaves at the time.
I have since bought a bread mixer. These 60 year old wrists do not knead as well as they used to. I let the mixer (kitchen-aid with a dough hook) do the kneading for me then rise- form into loaves ( i free hand the loaves) then rise in the bread pans and bake.
I also have bread pans similar to yours that I bought from "The bread Beckers" at least 25-30 years ago. Still use them weekly and they are the BOMB!!!. I make a 3/4 fresh ground white wheat to 1/4 organic all purpose. With fresh wheat it can be heavier so the narrower pans allow for upward expansion better. Personally speaking good bread pans make a world of difference in the final product.
Fresh bread- oh my gosh!! When the kids were all home we would bake 4-- 6 loaves at the time. The first ones out of the oven were literally inhaled with butter and honey while loaves still hot. Kids never seemed to care that bread cuts better when cooled- they just loved it fresh out of oven.
Great video. Thank you for sharing, Have a blessed week.

I prefer to use a bread machine with two kneading mixers at the bottom. I have a west bend bread machine. They have two of those kneading circles in one loaf pan. Because of this the loaf pan is a bit bigger making the loaf it makes a more manageable size. I also don’t have any issues with flour not being mixed in because there are two mixers instead of one. Just a thought for anyone looking to purchase one. I really recommend getting a machine with two of those mixer/kneading circles in the bottom.

I just love making bread so much, kneading or doing stretch and folds and watching how it reacts to yeast. I would love to send you some of my sourdough starter Rosa. I love feeding my starter and using different flours to see how it reacts. Then using different amounts in recipes to see how long fermentation takes. I just love all things bread and watching people make bread so I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thanks family as always love being in your kitchen with you all . Much love ❤

This is exactly what i was wondering. Of course hand kneading will be different then the machine

I use the bread machine to knead the bread and I put the kneaded and risen dough in bread pans and bake in the oven.

Many years ago I had a bread machine but didn’t like the bread it made. Now I have a Bosch mixer and a grain grinder. Best bread ever.

I use the bread maker to make the dough, then rise and bake in the oven.

I had an Oster way back in the late70s-early8os...don't know what happened to that but, i made bread when in college when "bread" was all whole meal, and ended like a hockey puck, **uk....now, with my arthritic wrists...i make "No Knead" bread with my dutch ovens....I apologize Rosa for my rambling ways....much love to you and your lovely family...J

Do you ever make sourdough? It’s so good and it would be fun to do with the kiddos!!❤❤❤ I’ve been new to it the last few months, and it’s truly amazing.

Just take the paddle out before it goes to the bake cycle.

I have used both a bread machine and hand made. My preference is a mixer with a dough hook to knead the bread. If I am making sour dough, I make by hand. I have tried several bread machines and I am not a fan. I also do not like the hole in middle of bread.

I was hoping you were going to knead the dough by hand

You need to not open the machine, just like not opening your regular oven while baking. Did you get a bread machine manual? They have a lot of litte helpful hints.

I would prefer the handmade one. 😉Please be careful with nail polish. It might chip off. 😮

Well...I bought a Cuisinart a couple of years ago. I really really wanted to like it but never got a good bread from any of the recipes. I like an artisan type bread and had the best results from no knead that overnights for 8 -24 hours. I really like "being one" with the bread...hahaha! So thumbs down on bread machine for me.
