My bestfriend and I fell in love around 2015 and now we're getting our wedding planned. It is absolutely THEE best thing ever to be friends first. I used to date people that were not my friend before him and they were kinds of terrible and it caused me to have therapy due time the mental abuse. I don’t think it’s as simple as people friendzoning you just because they aren’t interested. I think it’s all about sincerity on both sides. Ulterior motives and expectations can undermine the friendship from the beginning. And some women actually do value that step process for exactly what it is…

Of course it works but you need to know when need to stop and start relationship. Me and my girl was friends 1 year and then ask her on date.. It's much better because we had time to know each other better. Today we are 7 years together 😊😊😊😊

This just happened to me. She told me let's be friends first leading to a long term relationship however she told me she was in a relationship with someone else

Friends first never works, and tbh, this is the perfect scenario for narcissists to flourish in. The narcissist will have no problem wasting your time, while getting his/her needs met (money, supply, validation, sex). Depending on how much he/she can siphon off of you, will determine how long you can stay in their lives

In general it doesn't work because with the advent of social media and online dating etc there are so many options and avenues to vet...it no longer serves women's interests to pursue something romantic with a friend. The male friend in many cases is willing to remain in that category so they can keep them as a resource and pursue the thousands of other options. Was more of a viable option 30+ years ago.
