Imagine going to work 3 days a week, rubbing the computer for 30 mins and saying I'm done.

Most of this footage is when he trained with the Ajax first team as a director 😂. Just for fun. He was like 48 there, great passion for the game

In atsenals invincible season, arsrnal drew nil nil with fulham, they were eleven players but arsenal were literally firing shots at van der sar who was pulling off double and triple saves, an absolute beast of a goalie

As a Liverpool fan I think he's one of the best keepers to do it ever, would have killed to have him between the posts he was so solid

He’s smart, my last few season playing ice hockey at 39-41 as a goalie I’d train twice a month max .. show up on game day, do the business and go home with the win . At that age it’s about mentality, preventing injury and relying on the hard work put in to get there . 💯 on board with his methods

I mean at 35, it seems reasonable he does minimal training to avoid potential injury. Practicing dives, catches, every day is going to take more of a toll on you when you are in your mid to late 30s rather than if you were in your early 20s.

My best memory of him (after Moscow!) was watching him from the Stretford End take goal kicks. BOTH feet. 6'6. Great reflexes. Vocal too. Him and Rio were at each other all game. Imagine if we had him today 🔥

Used to have the record for most minutes without conceding. 1311 minutes!

I remember Peter Schmeichel saying that a reason for him leaving was. "Its just all games. I'm a big guy I need to train." That is on the trebble video. Van der Sar was an excellent keeper, the one I had the most confidence in. Peter was great as well, just I prefer Edwin.

The training 3x a week as a veteran goalkeeper is not laziness. You are worn out, hips feel the constant floor hitting. Perhaps Top 5 ever

He's the rare type
Where most footballers usually falls hard after 35, he seems to enter his second prime at that age

Imagine if they signed him earlier instead of Barthez and Howard...
