Logitech played a key role in sim racing history. I wish they updated their offerings to compete with todays market

I think they are still a good wheel to start, especially for newcomers that are still unsure if they want to fully commit into sim racing or not

Moza R5 is around 550 and I find the g290 for 215 (at least right now). I feel it is a bit unfair to compare

I had my g920 for 7 years and it just broke a few weeks ago. It had some problems going along, and I can say that I opened it up more than 5 times to fix things. However it did the job really well and now I'm upgrading to a fanatec csl DD! so yeah, from a personal experience I would recommend it for beginners.

Can't forget the fact that the logitech wheels are so modifiable and allows for custom wheels for a cheap price without having to pay for hundreds for a brand new wheel style. Heck now since the pro pedels are out you can upgrade for better pedels so that adds for even more customization.

I just picked up a g920 for $270 at best buy. the Moza R5 is $670, the fanatec csl dd is $570. (CND). I personally would not compare the g920 to those other two wheels. Thats a huge price jump.

I'm about to buy a g29 as an entry level wheel for NR2003. This review was very unbiased and I have a good idea of its shortcomings, but I'm still pretty confident it will be a blast, especially as my first wheel. Great review!

I just bought an F-GT and a Fanatec csl dd. Your reviews helped alot on making the decision. Thanks👍

I'm just looking to race casually on FH5 and AC and so I bought a used setup with shifter and stand included for $200. At that price and everything included, it's worth it. I'm planning to tweak it a bit by removing the little rubber block in the brake pedal because I feel that the travel is too shallow, doing the M3 screw mod in the shifter to make it feel more tactile and less like a toy, and thinking of 3D printing the H shifter magnet mechanism and shift knob, total cost less than $20.

After watching the Gran Turismo movie, I want to get into sim racing and make the dream come true

you can modify the brake pedal to make the "stiff" portion of the travel much longer, making it feel much closer to an actual brake. you will have to press the pedal significantly harder however, so make sure you have the pedals secured well. i bought my g29 for 230 refurbished about two years ago and its stood up well so far. make of that what you will.

I think DD wheels are at a price point where they make way more sense now. And DD wheels are a far better experience than the G29 or 920. The force feedback on a DD wheel is amazing compared to the gear driven G29/920. I went with the Moza R5 bundle and couldn't be happier. Night and day experience compared to the G29/920.

I bought the G29 last week and I am very happy with it. As it's my first wheel I didn't want to overspend, because DD wheels are very expensive in my country (Poland). I got G29 for 250$, when T300 is around 450-500$ and Moza R5 is like 800$. The choice was obvious, but for its price the old Logitech is still a solid choice for begginners I believe. Also - they are known for its reliability.

I have my G29 now 3 years. And yes...its still a good Wheel to start. But... I think i will change soon to a DD, because the mainproblem of a geardriven wheel is, you never will have this direct control feeling.

I’ve had my g923 for about a half a year and it’s done amazingly, it’s a solid wheel for starting off but if your planning on staying in sim racing for a long time, I would just save up another $100 and buy the Thrustmaster TX leather edition so that way you have much more options and the ability to change your wheel easily

I own one so im biased but id say yes. Its probably the best starter wheel and its regularly on heavy discount at sale times (black Friday and prime day in the uk mainly). Its compatible with consoles which is important for a starter wheel since users are most likely to either only have or want to use a comsole. Definitely a safe move to try out simracing before you go whole hog and put the money down for like an csl dd or something.

The problem for me is none of these affordable direct drive wheels offer playstation 5 support (except for the gt dd pro but at a frankly massive increased cost) and I just wish companies would focus on compatibility across all platforms.
