I'm working on my cover right now. And I find this on the lulu website: "Omit any images or solid colors/stark contrast that run right up to and stop at the spine on either the front or back cover. Keep the spine the same color/graphic as the rest of the cover."

But the templates provided by the Cover Creator doesn't follow this rule. Even the one at the beginning of the video, the front cover has a contrast with the spine.

Why is that? Can I use images that stop at the edge of the spine?

@6:50 Ah, this video gave me the clue I needed. I was trying to rotate text for the spine and couldn't get it perfectly vertical (I don't think you can hold down shift for snap-to angles while rotating). My solution: engage the rotate handle, but then move the cursor way far away from it (while the handle is still engaged), which gives much finger control over the rotation than when it is close to the handle. I also put a temporary block shape alongside the text to make sure I rotated it to a proper right angle. This works, but if there's a better way, let me know.

I used your design cover. Set everything up using the provided guides. When produced everything goes haywire. At first, I thought the guides were not the correct size, but after closer inspection it seems that my two stroked rectangles are simply no longer stroked on some of their sides.

I did a test run experiment with Lulu using a 56 page book report just to see how it would turn out and how lulu works in general. I found it fairly easy to upload the interior of the book but found using Lulu cover design creator quite difficult to learn how to use. Canva is much easier to navigate. I uploaded my book interior about 10 days ago and attempted to create the cover the same day. The interior is all good to go but in having trouble with the cover design, I made a support request that still has not been fully addressed yet. It seems difficult and time consuming to get help from the administration...seems like asking general questions gets you nowhere...you must narrow down your inqueries into micro sized points to get answers.

I miss the Canva beta cover design so much. It was so easy to use and there were so many options. I made so many different beautiful covers. I haven’t been able to make one since you got rid of it January 31st. Such a downgrade. It’s been so glitchy for me since you removed them. Don’t be cheap. Put them back please.

I've been looking into printing my book, and I've been clueless about how I was supposed to design it using the template lulu provides; this has really helped me since I didn't know about the custom cover option, but I would like to know how you design a cover for a book with 600+ pages, the spine would be bigger than what the template provides meaning the title along the spine would end up being too small for the overall book.

my book is size 5.5 W x 8.5 H and they recommend my cover to be 8.5 x 11? a Bleed is usually only .125 so why do i need to make the cover that large?

I do have a question. I tried to use this feature but the maximum photo accepted is 10 MB. If I create my cover using Adobe indesign, can I use a higher quality, for example 30 MB? I still struggle with computers lol.

The newest version of Lulu book covers is simply a nightmare. I just did a book and when I got the copies, add text boxes were all over the place on the front cover. I did go back in and took them out. NEXT problem was putting on the back cover. I could not to save my soul get the text to center position. I do not understand how to do the darn text at all. It's frustrating. Can anybody clue me in as to what I'm doing wrong with the back cover? Thank you.
