I have experience with this. I prayed and prayed and prayed for God to let me know what to do with my career. The answer that He really placed on my heart was, ""Just glorify me in whatever you do".

This is the hardest thing I struggle with. Trusting God is very hard as a new christian because Im so used to doing things on my own, but I really need God to take control of my life because I really want him to do something good with me

TRUST and OBEY.
Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths."

This is so liberating for me. I don't have to worry about the specifics in my life .. Where you live...my career... My spouse etc.
Just as long as I do everything for the glory of God, then I am in his will

Agree. Go by the written word, your conscience, convictions, wisdom and bring it before God in prayer knowing that God is in control and will open or close doors of opportunity based on His final decision. God will lead His people in the right direction according to His will.

I’ve been praying fervently recently and it’s been hard for me to accept that wisdom view of making decisions. I always had thought that God would lead me in specific decisions to make. I trust in Him

I unfortunately had to leave a church over this. I think that X-marks the spot" view is dangerous. It drove both me and my wife into a depression and separation from the church for almost 4 years. Thankfully we're back, albeit a different church, slowly getting back into the swing of things. There's a lot of scars to get past, and thinking to undo. Word for word what Frank said on the "wisdom view" is the exact conclusion that I came to on my own.

Absolutely biblically correct. Wisdom given by Holy Spirit and The Word of God.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS and shalt believe in thy heart that GOD raised him from the dead thou shalt be Saved 🙌.

I actually think it's both
You use the wisdom from God's word to recognize those signs He places in our paths. The Balance there is every experience has to subject to the already given Word of God(The scriptures) Yes God has a specific will for you know and recognize them by living life through the lenses of scripture. And the leading of the holy spirit can't be over emphasized

I agree not everybody is shown a clear path... but most definitely, I think God planned my wife for me. Yes, there were signs. Yes, they were very direct, definitive, and lead to a very blessed relationship of two believers that lasts long years at this point. BUT I also believe God respected my freedom in all of this. He proved to me along several times in an equally clear way that I do have a choice and I can not take the route he showed me. He made a proposition. Did not force anything on me. That's what true love is. Freedom. Just like he leaves us free to choose him or reject him when it comes to his offer of salvation, he also leaves us full choice when it comes to following through with his plans. It does help, however, just like Frank said, to first and foremost stick to God's word for any and all directions - only as a secondary tool, use your own private discernment, especially when it comes to relationships.

Wow…I wish this was articulated in this way when I was saved as a teen. It would have created a lot less confusion for me. For a long time I struggled with the “traditional” view.

Thank you for this. This was my view from the beginning, but it conflicts with what others believe and it’s refreshing to hear this

If you don't know what to do, do what you know to do.

Wonderfully said. Really good, liberating word.

Very wise words indeed, though I do think it could be some of both. Every now and again there's nothing wrong with the Holy Spirit guiding you into something more specific, though as an overarching premise it makes sense that the Holy Spirit just wants us to grow up into the likeness and the wisdom of Christ and to make generally godly decisions. God is fully capable of incorporating the decisions we make that's within his will into his overall plan for what he will bring about. I do believe that God does offer us actual freedom

I couldn't agree more with Dr. Turek. The resources he mentioned (from Garry Friesen & Greg Koukl) are excellent. Greg Koukl's (Stand to Reason's) article called "Decision Making and the Will of God: The Biblical Model" is also excellent.
