I always wondered about the tides and their effect on the movements on the earth and moon. If you think about it, the conservation of energy states that the energy making the tides has to come from SOMEWHERE. That is a ton of force! Not literal ton, of course. So, Mr Tyson just said its slowing the earth down... is it not also slowing the moon down? Or is it maybe speeding it up and thats why the moon is moving farther away?
