SIMPLE DRILL TO LEARN HOW TO HIT A DRAW

In this tip I'm going to show you a simple drill to learn how to hit a draw with both irons and driver. Learning a draw doesn't get easier than this.

Most people try to hit a draw by simply closing the face with their irons and driver or doing a strong grip. Although by doing this the shot may be hit with draw spin it's on the wrong path. This tip shows you a simple drill to hit a draw by going through the 2 steps needed to do so.

For the sake of learning the draw shot, I would do this drill starting with irons then once you get it move up to driver. Also, make sure you listen carefully to how I explain it. I say it in a way you can remember what to do so you can learn how to hit a draw once you take it to the range. You could even take an iron or driver and do this simple drill in practice swings at home.

If you've been wanting to hit the hardest shot in golf then follow these 2 steps in this simple drill and you will have it in no time.

Hi Paul. There are not many people who are able to teach. Lots of people know how to do it. But the difficulty is communicating the message to the student. Not many people are good at that. I don't mean to be patronizing. You have the gift. Thanks for you videos. Cheers

Hey Paul, This is one of your BEST tips. I saw the tip on Saturday, employed the tip on the course on Sunday and although I always thought I had enough tilt in my swing I obviously did not because my shot pattern has always been a slight fade to (dare I say it) a slice! Not as of Sunday. Shot pattern was straight to a slight draw & LONGER. Now I will continue to adjust the tilt & hand role to find a consistent draw. You continue to make the complex easy to understand. I appreciate that! Keep it up!

Really enjoy your video tips/lessons, so thanks for those. Couple separate questions though that I think are somewhat appropriate to ask here on this particular tip. What exactly is a "blocked" shot and more importantly what causes it and how does one fix it? This drill made me think of a particular problem I encounter occasionally when I get stuck where every other shot (especially driver-but mid range and shorter irons too) is a dreaded snap hook. And just as fast as it comes they will go away and all is well. After watching this tip I can't help but wonder if when I go into this snap hook funk if I am somehow unknowingly doing what you show in these drills but to the nth degree?

Ive been playing for a year now and a iron draw is the hardest shot for me. For me its right up there with trying to hit a 3wood off the ground with a draw. HARD... I can draw a iron but its never high which paul calls a hook and I agree its not desirable. Ill try the tilt today after work

"Watch your ball." Simple yet smart.

I don't think a round goes by where I couldn't put this skill to good use in obvious situations (pure distance not generally being one of them). Thanks, Paul, for explaining a way to develop that skill through practice—I'll be dedicating a few balls from every bucket.

Thanks, Paul. Nice and simple, just the way we like it. Now it's a matter of being willing to spend the time to learn it versus how often it's needed. One of our local courses favors drawers, but other than that track, straight and slight fade does the job most everywhere else.

Thank you for this video. With the driver, I'm using a zero-knuckle grip and hitting dead straight. With my woods, I strengthen to 2.5 knuckles and hit a gentle draw. I also use 2.5 knuckles to hit a gentle draw with my 7i, and I have to increase the grip strength just a bit for each club shorter than that so as not to hit straight pushes. No matter the grip, my 3i, 4i, and 5i all produce nasty hooks. The grip for these clubs only impacts the starting direction. The 6i produces a strong draw. Can you suggest some changes that might improve the path and/or ball flight for those longer irons? Thanks again!
