Artemis 1 launch as seen from the Saturn V Center (3.3 miles away) at Kennedy Space Center. Put on headphones to listen to the intense sound and the crackle from the SRB's. You can also hear the building behind us chirping with the sound reverberating off of it.

It's crazy that the rocket lit up the entire landscape like it was daytime

That was more impressive than the NASA footage I woke up for to see it live. Amazing to be there and feel it in person.

Amazing sound - especially with headphones. Never realised how bright the launch was until I saw this.

The moon being in the frame on this particular night is really something.

Love that you captured the crowd there to watch it. The normal TV and internet shows don't get that. Also the weird sounds were cool. I didn't hear them while watching from my roof in Merritt Island, then I read your comment about the VAB. I had heard stories of it making sounds during launches but this was the first time I have heard a recording of the noises. Thanks!

As a space coast native who's family worked on ALL the shuttles... This night launch beats ANY of the STS night launches, and with 20% more SRB power? This was insane! Its hard to put into words when you see these launches in person. GREAT Video!

I've seen a Falcon9 night launch from Port Canaveral beach (13 miles) and the sound was an incredible experience. I can only imagine how overwhelming this must have been.

You have just convinced me to make sure that I get to see the next Artemis launch in person. Thanks!

I watched the launch of Apollo 13 IRL on a beach at that same distance or close to it back in 1970. Watching this again decades later IRL brought back so many memories and one thing you never forget is the sound even if the weather is partly cloudy like it was on that day where we were, the one thing you don't forget even if you can't see it is hearing it
It is a sound you can't really duplicate, that change in harmonics you were hearing is because of the difference in how the sound waves change as they reflect back to the ground as of the spacecraft is getting higher. Is a very weird and unique sound,

Wow, I'd heard it was the brightest launch vehicle but the NASA video didn't do it justice. This is incredible footage and the sound waves are awesome! 👏

I saw 2 Saturn moon launches back in the day from about that distance. The human ear is the only thing that can accurately hear how those rockets not only sound, but feel. That popping that you hear, as it gets higher, will shake your bones.

I remember people complaining this was gonna be a night launch so you couldn't see the rocket...

I don't think they quite understood how SLS is always going to be a daytime launch, because no matter how dark it was at T-10 seconds, by T+10 SLS is going to make sure it's daytime in Florida!

It's been a long time coming, and it's perhaps not as impressive as it would have been if it flew on original schedule, but it's one hell of a machine no matter how you look at it!

Super video - beats the "professional" ones hollow - the turning night into day, illuminating the clouds like a nebula, the silhouette of the exhaust, and the unmuffled sound - just great! Gives that feeling af awe! What an endeavour! Thanks!

Fantastic! The part near the end when it’s higher up and lighting up the cirrus clouds, with the exhaust trail in shadow is very cool!

I witnessed a shuttle launch back in the late 80s from about same distance and the intensity of the low frequency rumble that you felt as much as hear was incredible. I can imagine it was the same with this launch too for those there in person. Thanks for sharing this video!

Amazing how this was at 3am but looks like dusk

Haven't heard that loud crackle since 1972, Australia plays a big part in tracking and communications and always has since the first moon launch, due to this as a sixties Aussie kid we got to see every launch, all in flyt and moon footage . ✌️♥️🇺🇸🇦🇺

The power of the Saturn V has finally been surpassed
I remember reading that the sound alone from the Saturn could kill you if you were too close, now I believe it
