With shroud dominating the streaming world, it's easy to forget that Shroud used to be a CS:GO pro... and for those who didn't get to catch him on stage, just how good was shroud?

The only thing Shroud can do in CSGO that s1mple never do probably is retirement lol

“it’s easy to forget he was a csgo pro” NEVER. That’s the only way I remember him, this streaming stuff is where he went to retire in my eyes.

On his prime, He was the best aimer in NA and arguably the best player in NA as well at the time. Unfortunately he just didnt have the will to play competitively.

I mean that time he destroyed NaVi with S1mple and Guardian was amazing. Its sad that it just went downhill from there.

I feel that Shroud only lasted that long on the C9 roster because he was CS:GOs biggest ambassador when it came individual recognition. Other than that I feel that he was more meme bait like with people screaming reddit when Shroud would hit a clip in a pug. He was decent in terms of NA competition but was pretty forgettable when you watched the tournament as a whole.

C9 literally won a major after he left

Shroud is just a very popular streamer. But in Pro cs? He's not that insanely good, just good enough.

From what I think after all that time streaming the moment he blew up with pubg is where he grabbed the bag and went full time coz he saw how much he can make with just streaming and not being stressed and playing 16hours of scrims 😂

Shroud by far has to be the most overrated player in CS history, people genuinely act like he was the best player in the world, when in reality it's arguable he was even the best player in NA for his career span. Add on the fact that the best player in NA wasn't even close to being top 10 world and you see how overrated Shroud is when he's mentioned in the same breath as people like Simple and Device.

TL;DR Shroud is one of the best pug players the game has ever seen, but his nerves always got the better of him on LAN and he could never perform the same as he did online.

Mike was really good during CSGO prime. His role in the team made him not stand out as much as we liked to. But his role does so much stuff like utilities and where to put them, in order to win that round. I still remember his early days of streaming (real ones remember THAT goatee) and he would just practice utility placements and just teach the chat. His chat before wasn’t even a lot of people. Ah early CSGO days

I'm glad this got brought up, I remember looking up to shroud when I first started playing csgo, he's the reason why I'm supreme. But man shroud's only weakness was his ability in clutch situation, he gets too nervous sometimes (we all do) but that's what set the difference between a skilled casual player and a pro player. And that he wasn't consistent. I mean sure he's hit some crazy clips but he played rlly bad sometimes too. Shroud knew c9 was thinking about replacing him that's why they didn't stop him when he wanted to start streaming. I miss the old humble shroud. Now he just sits around and shits on games when he's not a game developer. Tbh nobody cares lol. Bring back 2017 shroud when he streamed pubg. They were the good times, him playing games ( what he's good at, and not developing games) and having a good time 🥲

I'd say considering early csgo days the sponsorships weren't really there and any money being involved was generally small amounts.
Unfortunately for most of the elites of early pro league games you wouldn't see them get paid much if at all and from looking back through those times most people that were making money were posting content/streaming

Simple is like the best of the best, the S+ tier of a cs go pro. Shroud belongs in the B+ category. Think in NBA terms a role player that sometimes will randomly score 30 points a game like Shaun livingston of Jamal crawford

*What makes shroud different than others is* he's quick to adapt
Just pick any random game make others play against him and you'll know ehy he's different it's not just the mechanics but also the game sense and High IQ plays too 😊

It’s unfair to use earnings as an argument because 8 years ago the prize pools were much smaller and inflation happened.
