- About Dr. Mary Claire Haver and The Galveston Diet -
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a passionate women’s health advocate who believes women in midlife deserve to live their best life. She cuts through fat-shaming and fads, so women are empowered with the science behind anti-inflammation nutrition.

Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a wife, mom, physician, and entrepreneur who has devoted her adult life to women’s health. As a Board-Certified OBGYN in the Houston area, Dr. Haver has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and did everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do.

As her patient population aged, Dr. Haver was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn't until she experienced the changes of menopause and mid-life weight gain that she realized this advice doesn't work and ultimately led to her creating and developing a new program, The Galveston Diet.

The Galveston Diet is the first and only nutrition program created by a Female OBGYN, designed for women in menopause. The Galveston Diet helps women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition. Dr. Haver believes in food's power to combat inflammation and highly recommends the unlimited benefits of intermittent fasting. As part of her ongoing research, she became certified in Culinary Medicine in 2019, specializing in medical nutrition.

I absolutely love and adore you for doing this! So helpful to get a walk-through about that and the fact that you're just sharing your measurements the way you are like a doctor. It's just so helpful for people. Thank you for sharing.❤

If your waist is atleast 10" less than your hips, you not only have an hourglass figure but a healthy waist to hip ratio. 🙂

I thought you measured your waist right by the belly button. It's close to my hip bone area and no matter what I did the number would never change. I've been so frustrated as to why I'd never lose inches...I never measured at the smallest part above my belly button...😮 This was so helpful. Though I still want to lose that belly pouch It's nice to know I'm not as far of my goal as I thought I was

Divide top number by bottom number? Top number as waist (because it's above your hips) or top number as hips (because it's a bigger number)? Thanks in advance for clarification!!

My is .75 YaY that is saying alot because at 61 on Aug. 11th-(I was born in 1962) and 11 years ago had ny whole kit and kaboodle removed (due to severe endometriosis) and did not go on any hormone replacement and beat Graves disease too-I consistently get guessed 20 years younger so I would say I am doing well -and genes only plays a small part in our overall well being.

they always tell us to measure around belly button so when I do this it gives much higher waist circumference as my belly button is low down

why does everyone forget the high hips?! to be an hourglass, your waist to high hips ratio has to be under 0.8, and your waist to lower hips ratio has to be at or under 0.7.

This is not a good indicator of health. I am extremely healthy but carry weight differently. Plus, I do intense glute workouts. The waist to height ratio is a far better indicator of health. Your waist should be under half your height. Please be kind to people with other body types. 🍑💕☺️
