The relationship between irreflexive and asymmetric relations is that these two properties can coexist within the same relation. A relation can be both irreflexive and asymmetric at the same time. This occurs when there are no self-relationships (irreflexivity) and any relationship between distinct elements is unidirectional (asymmetry).
