I have the same engine in my sprinter based in France Europe and it does not have a Turbo resonator as standard, Plus I notice a few other differences no EGR valve, I also changed the harmonic balancer and put my wrench on the main bolt fixed to the ground and just turned the engine over to undo the bolt 🙂

Woah thank you for the video. Well thought out and very helpful thank you. What’s was the noise your heard with the harmonic balancer going on and the process that you went through to find that problem? For the most part your recommending changing most this stuff before you need to. I’ve started to find that mine is all pretty tight and brittle pieces.. nervous to fix anything that doesn’t need to be. But I love taking care of engines so again thanks for this video. Going to share and save. ❤

One of the best videos on this van here on YT, thanks for posting. I agree Bear builds video is pretty good too but not as detailed as yours.

Very well done, thank you. I'm looking at one of these now but it sure seems like the Germans love expensive, frequent, maintenance items....you realling don't have that many miles on that motor, if you had to pick, would you go diesel again or gas?

Why in the world would an engine be going through harmonic balancers? Never heard of such a thing, they should be good for the life of the engine or at least 250K. I question any savings you find at the pump over all the expensive parts and maintenance in these rigs especially now that Diesel prices are approaching $6.00 gal. not to mention the lack of qualified mechanics who actually know something and are willing to work on such creators. When these first came out in the US many fleet companies tried them and quickly found out they were not reliable and costly to maintain and soon there after replaced them with the more familiar brands again. From someone who has owned a Sprinter from the beginning in 02' stay away from them and you will be glad you did.
