Best advice ever I got from my father, 40+ years experience as diesel engineer working with diesel engines up to :
Use good fuel, proper maintenance oil and filters, every time you drive it get it up to temperature and floor it, burn off residue !!
Also for gasoline, engines are not made to drive around for 5 minutes @ 1600rpm.

I found the best way to fix mine was to buy a petrol car, never had a problem since.

Better drive at speed required on the motorway plus oil change and filter when needed and a good quality diesel fuel. Job done.

Thats great but if the dpf has had too much back pressure for too long, be prepared for cracked baffles. In which case the whole unit is screwed.

I idol a lot being a hotshot trucker. Sometimes it takes as long as 600-700 miles of straight driving until check engine light will go off. I use Sea Foam.

Crazy, you buy a diesel for better economy, to save money at the end of the day. Do you save money ? DPF, EGR problems, more expensive fuel, city charges, the threat of more expensive road tax in future. What’s the point ?

I got good results with Tunap 989 nozle power wash, much easyer cold start, much less of diesel, the exhaust smell better of good buring, more power from.the engine

I bought a 2014 Vauxhall Vivaro Van with low milage for the use of Courier work, taking out a loan to do so, and this DPF thing has been a ROYAL PAIN IN MY ASS every few weeks to a month. I take it in to be sorted with a garage, they clean it out and regen the DPF, costing me £75 a time, a couple of weeks later, bastard warning lights come on again, sometimes with a "STOP" light too, which just stresses me out. Had a chap come and do a thorough clean out of the fuel system and DPF, 6 weeks later, same shit. I can't sell on, I'd be without the van as I use it every day for work (which I also use for band work on weekends) I don't get it, I see these vans used all the time for courier work, is this a thing of my van or are they all like it? At the end of my tether I am!
