Mirror Image Jatiswaram | Online Dance Fellowship

In this virtual dance collaboration, three dancers bring out the concept of a Mirror-image( an image or object identical in form to another, but with the structure reversed, as in a mirror). "Mirror Image Jatiswaram" attempts to cultivate synergy between the left brain(also called Ida) and the right brain( also called Pingala). Dance training over the years has made us comfortable prioritizing the right side of our bodies (for example, starting any dance movement with the right leg or right arm). With our "Mirror image" concept, we challenged our minds and bodies to move past our old habits and try the same movement (Korvai, Jathis), starting on the left and right sides. Therefore, bringing out the concept of "Mirror image" by portraying a classical fast-paced Nritya piece- JATHISWARAM set to Ragam Vitapi and Thalam Aadi.

Performed by Anitha Srikant, Saidharshana Dhantu and Stuti Mukherjee in a remote collaboration.
