Amazon condemns Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for 'starvation wages'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos for being a billionaire while his company pays its warehouse workers "starvation wages." Amazon says Ocasio-Cortez is "just wrong."
In an interview with ABC News' "This Week," the New York Democrat blasted Amazon, claiming low worker pay contributes to Bezos' status as the world's richest person.
Amazon (AMZN) retorted in a tweet saying the company pays a $15 minimum wage and offers full benefits on employees' first days on the job. The company also noted that it has lobbied to raise the federal minimum wage.

I never understood why people who take advantage of the system gets blamed instead of the people who designed the system. Politicians want you to think that billionaires are bad, so that you can remain poor and vote them in office hoping for that utopia change!!!

At the same time that Amazon raised it's minimum wage, they also removed bonuses in both cash and company stock and reduced benefits. None of this information is hard to find. The total compensation is, if anything, *less*. It just looks better on paper.

Everyone is paying at 15, to get the benefits is a huge bonus, Jeff Bezos is a great man he shouldn't be taking this abuse from these criminal politicians, again it really comes down to cost per living and our money value. Amazon pays no taxes no federal taxes no state taxes and fact the people of every single state that their warehouses are in we pay for Amazon taxes so that's how call from Jeff Bezos made his money. so yes it was the people that made him money and the people he stepped on that made his money.

I’m 19. Live on my own, have a car, I pay the insurance, my phone, food, all the normal bills an adult has. And I work 40 hours a week at Home Depot and make 13.50. In my opinion there should be a regional minimum wage that’s based on the cost of living in every region divided by a 40 hour work week.

If it costs $3K per month to live in region X, Y, Z the minimum wage should be $18.75. If it’s $2k per month $12.50 and so on.

The data for this is already available as a result of the census which is conducted every ten years.

Consequently, the regional minimum wage would be adjusted every 10 years.
