I hope you hear direct from Energizer about the leaks.... I put so much trust in them!

Those are northern hemisphere batteries, the electrolyte leaks out when they are upside down in Australia.

Don't forget that another trap for young players is that Zinc-Carbon cells have the casing at Negative, not positive like alkaline.

Looked familiar - these are exactly the ones I bought and put in my remote.
Down to every letter and number. O3 19A stamp.

And that's a major supermarket chain in Eastern Europe.

"Advanced" means that they will leak sooner.

Ah, so plenty of people on the internet don't know what they are talking about. Gee, I didn't know that!

The missing color on the label would be like you were starting at. The alkaline electrolyte ate it away. It's an aluminum coat on the plastic wrapper.

The only way Woolies would have fake energisers is if fakes snuck into the official supply chain, same with Coles and most other big retailers.

The batteries were probably exposed to high heat during the mailing process and plus they were in use too.

@7:29 googled those numbers and its a SNI safety certification number

I would say the "Advanced" name was simply used on the product before they changed the packaging and labeling. They have the same UPC.

The mailbag batteries, did they travel by air? Me thinks the reduced air pressure on an airplane may force the seal to leak (rapidly) if there is any hydrogen gas at all in the battery.

Energizer do tend to change their labels often. I remember the added the MAX latter, then Advance, and then after a few years they changed the colour, ie, it was orange black silver -.

As an American, took me a second to realize what you were talking about when you said you drained the battery with a torch. I was like "wtf, why would shoot fire at the battery to drain it? why not put it in a flashlight

The Energizer Bunny was a better mascot than a flexing battery imo.

I think the Positive terminal not being attached properly may be the culprit on the ones that leaked. The machine that rolls the negative end over the seal would have too much pressure if the overall length was too long because of the positive terminal being welded wrong. To much pressure could squeeze the seal and damage it.

I think I bought some 9 volt counterfeit Energizers about a year ago. The cases on the batts looked funky and different from other Energizers. I do not buy Duracell batteries anymore. They leak just sitting in their packages.
BTW, was there a weight difference between the two?
