Joining Crochet Squares (Flat Slip Stitch Seam)

Hi everyone, joining your crochet squares needn't be difficult and in this tutorial I'll show you how easy it is with the flat slip stitch seam!

There are lots of ways to join your (granny) squares together but I would say this is definitely my favourite way of joining!

It’s an easy method, it lies completely flat and I think it looks really attractive also.

For those of you who don’t like to sew, this will be an ideal technique for you to learn and I’m sure it will become a favourite of yours too.

You can choose to work the seam in the same colour as the main body of your work, or you can use a yarn of contrasting colour, like I’ve done in this tutorial.

MATERIALS USED (AFFILIATE LINKS):
🔹Yarn used for the blue squares: #4 / worsted / aran. I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8 in the colours baby blue (032) and beige (004).
🔹Yarn used for the rose squares: #2 / sport / 4 ply. I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 in the colours antique rose (061) and white (001).

As always, thank you for clear explanation! I love that you don't rush at any point, especially towards the end and you always point out where we're going with stitches that are easily covered up and finally exactly how many stitches we'll end up with on each side. I've been crocheting many years and get annoyed at how many UTube teacher's have areas where they go way slow at the beginning and rush the final details. If I have a problem with that, , I see why a less experienced crocheror would just give up!. I actually took a local class in person when I restarted crocheting 4 or 5 years ago. The class started with 15 or more people who wanted to crochet and by the last week only 3 people were left! One woman actually left crying! I felt so bad for those students and It's my guess they never tried again! I wish there had been someone like you with the patience and foresight to see where people struggle so they can be successful! Crocheting can be the best "meditation" in this crazy world! Thank you!
