I've been listening to Mac for almost 7 years. He fantasized dying a legend, at the height of his career and leaving a legacy. He talked about ODing regularly. Leaving the world after his work is done. In my opinion, Swimming holds so many references to death, and HIS death in particular, and moving onto the afterlife. Something he seemed so accepting of in all of his works.

Another thing about the choice of using jet fuel as the thing that keeps him going is that weed is referred to as gas but he’s past that onto jet fuel, even harder drugs

Its from his song called San Francisco, in his earlier records (Faces2014) he was extremely blunt about the possibility that he would die from an overdose. He knew.

But just like in the first verse of Jet Fuel.. "Cus everything is too much, so what?"

Very cool video, I love the in depth view of his words. My only point of disagreement is the metaphor of jet fuel. I agree at surface level is that jet fuel reference drugs, however taking the rest of the song into consideration it references happiness. He says "25 years I been high and no less" this is just my interpretation but i take that as meaning he has always been happy and that drugs have never provided him actual happiness. His "high" in my mind comes from enjoying things properly and sharing his happiness with others. The reference to drugs still exists but is more subtle and seems to be his coping mechanism with dishonesty/wrongdoing.
