After purchasing a hearing aid and getting it properly fit, hearing should significantly improve for an individual suffering from hearing loss. However, there are times when the hearing aid which initially worked well, seems to no longer work as well as it should, or even not at all. Here are a few simple things that can be tried at home to troubleshoot your faulty hearing aid.

Carefully examine the hearing aid overall… Make sure there is no clog or kinking of the speaker tubing. If present, the tubing should be replaced. Replace the hearing aid dome, especially if torn or dirty. Next, replace the wax guard, especially if clogged or dirty. Replace the battery and also check the internal battery contacts to make sure they are clean. Clean the microphone ports using a brush or a tiny vacuum.

If the hearing aid is still not working properly, contact the manufacturer or your audiologist to evaluate it further.

I think that the hearing aid loudspeaker does not have a strong enough cable . I have had to replace the speaker 3 times in two years ! ( fitted with custom ear plugs)
