Supernova SN1987a Visualized

Показать описание
Supernova SN1987a was a type II supernova in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). About 2-3 hours before the visible light reached Earth, a burst of neutrinos was observed. These neutrinos are visualized here with purple lines. (Note, this is a simple module that doesn't end in the unique ring shape of the real SN1987a, though I may update that in the future.) The background stars here are from Gaia DR2 data of the LMC. This is a screen-grab movie of a Uniview module that I created for the Adler Planetarium's Kavli Fulldome Lecture series.
