Thank you so much for breaking it down. Best explanation video for someone considering a recreational license on YouTube. Legend.

In 1982, to go from Zero to Commerical Pilot was $21, 000 that's like over $100, 000 in todays money. Back then, restricted licence to allow you to carry passengers within the training area required 40 hours of training. Now it's fooking 20. I was robbed!

I’m pretty sure on an RPL you can also add “flight activity endorsements” which involves aerobatics and spin recovery. In addition to your class 1 and 2 med, you also have a Basic Class 2 which is basically your GP declaring you unconditionally can hold a drivers license. A basic class 2 allows you to carry pax, but no aerobatics permitted.

Just about no one has ever got their RPL with 20 hours of flying. The average is 35-45 and In reality, by the time you have got your ASIC card, bought your books, medical, bought your head set, sat your CASA exam and paid for your flight test, It's likely you would have spent 15-20K.
The quickest and cheapest way to do it is, take off a Month and do it compressed, every day. Otherwise try to fly 3-4 times a week.
An RPL is not considered to be much of a Licence. The good thing with them though is you have something for your training and you can use it prior to getting your PPL. It's also good experience understanding CASA exams before you sit your PPL exam.

And I'd be interested in a similar breakdown on the PPL version.

I did it that way - rpc + nav and then convert it to rpl. If I would do it again and focus only on cost I would go straight to RPL, flying in c150 is very similar price to raaus school

Great video thanks! Since Gostner Aviation closed there's now only two places left in Sydney that offer RPC - Dave's Flying School and SRFC, both at The Oaks. Unless you know of any others?

What would be the best one if I just want to be able to go on small flights with two other people? Also is there a minimum age a child has to be to be able to go for a joy flight with me if I did get the license? I’m in NSW

Are the rates same for international students?

Here’s a doozy. I got my RAA group A plus NAV in 10:10 dual and 2:00 solo because I converted my group B experience. I’ve since done 40 odd hours solo, yet according to the RPC to RPL criteria, I’ll need to complete another 10 hours dual despite being signed off already. Is this the case?

I am from India, Since I have limited funds for my flight training, I would like to know if I can do part time job while undergoing flight training in Australia in order to get my CPL ?

Ok So with your RPL, isn't there possibility to go on further the become a flight instructor, but would it be cheaper to get an RPC license, become an instructor through the endorsement and then turn it into an RPL license?

And just say I got an RPC license and got many different endorsements on it but I wanted to get an RPL as well, and so I got the RPL, but what about those endorsements that don't transfer, will they just be at an RPC level and so I would have to do these endorsement activities under the conditions of an RPC?

thanks for your video . mate
in Australia, can we skip the rpl and go directly to ppl? cuz i want to reduce the cost
i think minimum hour for ppl is 40 hours as far as i know ..
so if i got the rpl, the hours i got from there are included in the ppl 40 hours in total ?

because i found some school offer price like 18000 dollars for rpl and 12000 for ppl .
does it mean it cost around 30000 dollars to done my ppl.

btw, thanks for you amazinng videos.♥
