The nostalgia is real. That bit always gave me goosebumps when I watched it because he was this underdog no-one really gave a shit about. This arc let us see what a badass he'd truly become. I never cared about Asuma (Jiraiya's death hit me way harder), but I felt my boy Shikamaru's grief like it was mine too.
