0:35 Magellan did NOT die in the Marianas islands (Guam, Tinian, Saipan etc.), he died in Cebu, in the Philippines.
16:20 Guam is in the Marianas islands and today they are still known as the Marianas. When they left Guam, they left the Marianas and headed to the Philippines - over 2, 000 km from the Marianas.

You should've mention that the Spanish captain Juan Sebastian Elcano was the real hero of the circumnavigation of the world, Magellan completed only half way around the globe because he was killed in the Philippines. Elcano took command of the only ship left "the Victoria" and returned to Spain with a small crew of sailors in 1522.

16:26 Since when was the Philippines referred to as the Marianas Islands? Doesn't that name refer to the archipelago Guam belongs in?

I'm a Filipino and as a kid I never got the impression of Magellan's death being tragic. In our history books Lapu-Lapu is regarded as a hero maybe that's why. It's interesting to hear this battle from another side.

Thoroughly enjoyed the video. One criticism though. After Magellan was killed it was Sebastian Elcano who led the Victoria home and completed the circumnavigation. Despite the loss of four ships the expedition was a commercial success and Elcano became famous in his time. I thought he would be worthy of mention even though this video is not about him.

In Philippines, Lapu-Lapu regarded as the first ever hero, the first one to resist colonial rule and won. We named an island after him, have a 40 ft statue in his honor called "Sentinel of Freedom", even have a fish in his name lol. Would be fun to have a counter Biographic of Lapu-Lapu himself to see the two sides of history.
