I am curious if one day we might see a type of AI that specializes in finding the most efficient & effective way that a Graphics Card could render out each frame, How the CPU gets utilized. Where we just see a massive improvement in the realm of rendering prioritization, processing efficiency, finding and fixing code in order to optimize video games.

Yeah I don't want to debug BPs that a human made let alone that an AI made.

Your point about research, data, and precision is spot on. It's a new take on the age old "garbage in, garbage out". Lazy creation (in writing fiction, making movies, or devleoping games) always shows those hallmarks of vagueness, incorrect specs/dimensions, inaccurate depictions of human behavior (bad writing, bad character development), etc.

I'd kill for AI tools that can turn a low poly model into high poly (and vice versa) and automatically unwrap a model. I'm sure those are on the way. And like your video shows the first steps towards, one day we'll have something akin to Jarvis from Iron Man for game dev. Imagine being "in" the editor in VR and talking to an AI/multiple AI's and giving them tasks to build your game/environment and seeing it come together before your eyes. Something like that is closer than we realize imo

As a 3d modeler and environment artist I don't know what to think of this stuff. Look, I'm using it and learning it, because I don't want to be left totally behind, but man it's getting good fast. The Meshy stuff is crazy. The fact that I (not a character artist) can create a high quality character and rig it with ease now'adays blows me away. Once Meshy is able to output quality quad modeling, intuitive auto-uv unwrapping, and actually proper three or four channel PBR materials...this will be a game changer.

I've been binging these videos and this is one of the most interesting channels. So many new use cases for AI. It's good to be aware of these things.

Generative AI will still have a big impact on the job market for modelers and in fact, within the entire IT field. There isn't a field not affected by generative AI. The impact is proportional to ability gains it will make over time. It just is what it is. When I went into the IT, I thought, I would have a safe job till rent. That is gone now. For now we do need humans in most fields. I use AI to help me writing better code, well, maybe not better code, but writing code a lot faster. However, it won't take forever, until AI will be good enough, to replace entire programming jobs.

Really interesting stuff! About the modeling of things like an AK, sure AI might have trouble making that exact thing with the proportions you expect in a game based on real-life assets, but it could certainly make a convincing fictional equivalent assault rifle for a sci-fi game. You could potentially refine the model with corrective instructions like "the ejection port needs to be lined up with the magazine" or "the barrel is bending down a little, and it should be straight", etc. as well.

At the moment it struggles with specific things but that is a short term issue, give it enough time and improvements and it will be able to produce exact requirements. The improvements are moving are lightning speed and we havent even begun yet with AI. We're in the early 1990's with AI in comparison with the internet back then.

seriously brother... another amazing video!

what i find kind of crazy is that AI might get to the point where it can generate complete design documents for just about anything, we are a ways off from this but it is on the horizon capability wise

once ai knows the exact specifications of any object, it will not be hard to generate on demand anymore... gaussian splats can be used to teach Ai the other way around again as well.

keep going with the AI videos, enjoying them alot

Long term, games and TV etc will be generated on the fly according to your personal tastes, possibly based on novels or IP like star wars, but only if you want it to be.

This is just a first step in that direction.

I prompted an a.i. generator to create a full-auto revolver, it gave me a sci-fi AK instead.

Modeling or creating precise objects with defined attributes are the first targets of automation; all you need are the parameters, and you don't even need AI. On one side, you have traditional automated processes, and on the other, AI taking care of everything that is more abstract

to be fair that generate M16 and the result is pretty impressive for a few second job!

AI can't do precise 3D models for now but it's hard to image what it'll be able to do if AI reaches superintelligence. It'll probably be able to do all that a human can and more, especially when it learns to operate 3D software. You'll have a legion of specialized AI agents that are all superintelligent and that work together to complete a task.
