HP Apollo 425t: An Overview and Console Booting

Way way back in 2017, I got this computer for $225 or something on eBay as "untested AS-IS". After repairing the power switch I managed to make the computer fire up, then I put it away. I continued to get more computers and forgot about this. I wound up losing/quitting my job and either had no money to buy the keyboard/mouse, or spent it on making other computers work/vintage laptops/other hobbies.

Jump to 2020. I've just tried to dig myself out of the hole I got myself into for a variety of factors and I decided to distract myself from perhaps the darkest time in my life. I dug out the computer, found out how to enable the serial console, and got HP-UX 9 installed. It's slow from a serious lack of RAM that doesn't cost a ton, but it is fun to use despite this.

I’ve got one of these but can’t do anything with it because I don’t have hp-ux for it. Not a workstation I used personally more familiar with the 300s and 700s.

Love your videos bro. I don't know what you are talking about most of the time...but, you are almost as entertaining as King Terry.👍

Cool, thanks! Do you know what’s the best place to get HP-UX software on the net? There used to be a very comprehensive repository on the Internet Archive, but no longer... Guess HPE managed to close it down... Perhaps you know a mirror?
