What to do about loud neighbor kids who disrupt your life!

A lady called into my radio show last Sunday (3 p.m. CST KTRS,com) and asked what she should do about her neighbors who have five kids, and they invite five more kids over. Anyway, it gets to be quite a racket. And on top of that, they are always tossing their ball into her yard, and then they climb the fence to retrieve it. So not only is this a noise issue, but it is a safety problem as well. I would bribe them! Walk over and bring flowers, candy, or a plant and try to resolve the issue that way.

I dont like my neighbors.... I live in the middle of two house that have lots of kids over... two basketball goals on both side of me. Never get a quite moment. So tired of it.

Our neighborhood had one house who would play music outside until 3:00 am/ Latin music. and the rest of us had to get up at 5:00 am to go to work. We all started talking...Come to find out those people slept till 5-6:00 pm after being up all night. Every time they made noise after that..we would all put speakers or radios in our windows facing their house with the country music channel on around 3:00 - 3:30pm when we got home from work and play it for a couple of hours as punishment..never said a word. Eventually they figured out if they were quiet...5 other houses were quiet. Worked like a charm. Eventually they sold their house. That was in the 1980's, LOL

Noisy children affect the quiet of neighbors, which is a public hazard. The law is powerless for children, writing letters has no effect, and reporting will become more intense. These guardians are beasts. If they are good people, they won’t let the kids go crazy. The new tenant next door to me is such a beast. You will feel a little better if you treat them like crazy dogs.

There should be a law that parents have to pay the government 2 to 5% of their monthly income for each noise pollution episode that their brats make ruining the quiet enjoyment of their neighbours   This law will get the parents to train their brats to play quietly.  If there is no law, there is NO motivation for the parents to teach their brats to be quiet.  Children born before 1990 were raised to be quiet.  My parents always said “children should be seen and NOT heard” and they raised us to be quiet, courteous and disciplined which led us to become courteous self-sufficient adults.  The spoiled noise pollution makers will amount to nothing and will have to live off their parents money.  After 1990 parents started treating their children like the world revolves around their obnoxious brats and that is why modern children are so loud.  

 Most americans are too narrow minded and lazy to even attempt to teach their brats.  It is pure selfishness to inflict your noise pollution on others when you can prevent it.

Dealing with relentlessly barking dogs and kid noise when you want peace and quiet can be a real pain. We had nice, quiet neighbors until a certain family moved in with kids and another with a nutcase barking dog. Sometimes you'e got to take matters in your own hands, taking steps to keep these irritations at bay if the neighbor's cooperation isn't working. There are companies such as Indows that make window inserts to suppress unwanted noise up to 70+%. Also double sheet rock and acoustical tiles can help if you want to go that route. I've put up 'Private Property Keep Out' signs on both gates leading to the backyard hoping to deter any unwanted visitors especially aimed for those wanting to retrieve an errant ball. Perhaps planting a row of fast growing trees tightly placed by each other near the fence would help deter objects being thrown in the yard and help with audible and visual suppression, keeping inquisitive eyes from peeking in.

Dealing with this now neighbors have 8 people 3 kids and 4 dogs constantly waking up everybody in the neigborhood EVERY DAY. I just want to point a gun outside an open fire 😥😫😓😭

When people have kids that’s their life decision not yours. They should always keep in mind how to be respectful for other people who don’t have kids. If people don’t think of others there’s always the solution of getting a parrot and leaving the windows open!

I didn't realize there is a community of people who have inconsiderate neighbors... My neighbors are rude passive aggressive people... I've already called the cops on them which they were cited for playing mariachi band music until 1 am during a work week. But they still continue to be disruptive on purpose...!

Candy or a bottle of wine?  How stupid is that? Puncture the ball when it comes over into your yard and show the punctured ball to the kids.

(1) Make sure there are witnesses to the disturbance. (2) Document the trespassing. (3) Investigate the neighbors. Find out their full names and where they work.

Find anonymous ways to make the people miserable that they cannot prove to be you. Ideally, they will think it is a different neighbor and then harass that neighbor, making them less popular.

They will eventually try to retaliate, but will likely do so out of anger and will slip up, allowing you to document threats and other abuses.

Im having the same problem with the people behind me... Its so loud we cant even enjoy our back patio. I have 2 teens and they are not even loud, and if they were i would have put a stop to it... but I just cant take it anymore, it sounds like a house factory of children... going insane!! Im fixing my problem by selling my home, MOVING INTO THE DAMN COUNTRY as soon as i can!!

Lady there is no peace offering with that many kids!! Are you kidding me!! Eventually you just have to scare the crap out of them maybe. That way they won't bother you anymore, or at least have a mind-trigger when they are getting out of hand.
