Reminds me of when I was a kid and, having very thick hair, being urged via my parents who, in turn, had been urged by their friends/acquiantances, to have it "thinned" by cutting out layers at the scalp. I still remember the stylist looking at my mother and saying something to the effect of "You do know that the hair is going to grow out, don't you?"
