does the boot stretcher require such a sever tilt of the handle to work?  the angle at which the lever was tilted to tighten the stretcher would not work on a standard cowboy boot because the shaft of the boot is too stiff.

Are there really no boot stretchers that cam stretch length? Why not, they seem trivial to make?

Yes the demonstration is on a very soft, apparently used, leather boot. I purchased this expensive boot stretcher in the Spring hoping to use it on some of my thicker leather winter boots and it lasted for one pair of boots. I thought for the price it must be great. Boy, was I wrong!! The screw that pushes the mechanism that separates wooden parts apart stripped and just jumped and did not move forward any longer. The screw is very soft metal, not stainless steel. I contacted the company 2 times asking just to replace the screw mechanism, hoping the material in the screw had been upgraded, so that I could repair the unit. I was totally ignored...no response. Once they have your money your are forgotten. I would not recommend this product to my worst enemy, if I had one. In this case buyer beware, because you get no help after purchase.

Honestly this video isn't very helpful. The boot in the video is obviously worn and soft. Most of us that are viewing this have very stiff new/ish upright boots that we can't put on or wear comfortably. I bought this tool from foot fitter and can't even get it down into the boot to use it. Just keepin' it real.
